Tuesday, January 20, 2009 Lesson: Components of Fitness/fitness goals/4 food groups of fitness Objective: Students will: - Develop an understanding of the 4 components of fitness. - Understand why setting goals are important in planning a fitness program. - Be able to list the 4 food groups of fitness and describe the components of each group.
Plan: Students will: - Review the notes over the four components of fitness, fitness goals, and the four food groups of fitness. - We will then discuss the different components that make up each of the four food groups of exercise and how many servings of each per week. - The students will then utilize that information to develop their own individual fitness plans at a later date.
Evaluation: - I will answer any questions the students have about the material covered in class.
Wednesday, January 21, 2009 Lesson: Muscle/Skeletal Quiz, Fitness Worksheet Objective: Students will: - Utilize previously learned knowledge to complete the muscular/skeletal system quiz.
Plan: Students will: - I will pass out the quiz and review the directions with the students. - I will place a word bank on the overhead for the students to use. - I will collect and score the quiz. - The students will complete the fitness worksheet that is included in their fitness packets.
Evaluation: - I will answer any questions the students have about the material covered in class. I will collect and score the quiz and the fitness worksheet.
Thursday, January 22, 2009 Lesson: Exercise Identification Objective: Students will: - Demonstrate an understanding of which exercises work each of the different muscle groups. Plan: - I will outline and demonstrate which exercises work each of the major muscle groups we reviewed in class.
Evaluation: - I will answer any questions the students have over the material covered. The students will develop their own individual fitness plan. They will also take a quiz over the anatomy and material covered in the fitness unit.
