MAHONING TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING MINUTES August 9, 2017
CALL TO ORDER: Franklin Ruch called the meeting to order at 6:05 PM at the Mahoning Township Building, 2685 Mahoning Drive East, Lehighton, PA 18235
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Franklin Ruch led the Pledge of Allegiance
PRESENT: Franklin Ruch, Chairman; John Wieczorek, Vice Chairman; Bruce Steigerwalt, Supervisor; Thomas Nanovic, Solicitor and Natalie D. Haggerty, Secretary-Treasurer

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION John Wieczorek made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 26, 2017 Board of Supervisors Meeting. Seconded by Bruce Steigerwalt. Franklin Ruch, yes; John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes 3-0 vote. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF TRANSFERS: MOTION John Wieczorek made a motion to approve the following transfers: $537.97 Residential Street Light Money Market to General Checking $595.20 Residential Fire Hydrant Money Market to General Checking $14,186.14 General Checking to Payroll Checking (pay date 7/20/17) $10,025.33 General Checking to Payroll Checking (pay date 7/24/17) $14,826.17 General Checking to Payroll Checking (pay date 7/27/17) $13,843.03 General Checking to Payroll Checking (pay date 8/3/17) $16,779.72 General Checking to Payroll Checking (pay date 8/10/17) Seconded by Franklin Ruch. NEW BUSINESS: Appoint Supervisor MOTION John Wieczorek made a motion to nominate Patricia Snyder to vacancy on the Board of Supervisors. Seconded by Bruce Steigerwalt. John Wieczorek, yes; Franklin Ruch, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt. 3-0 vote. Motion carried.
Authorize to send Letter Advising Aware of Road Closure for Fire Company Community Day MOTION Bruce Steigerwalt made a motion to authorize letter to be sent acknowledging the township is aware of road closure on Springhouse Road and Mill Road on September 16, 2017 for coaster race during Community Day Event. Seconded by John Wieczorek. Franklin Ruch, yes John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes 3-0 vote. Motion carried.
Paver Repair: Pencor came back with estimate of $550.00 for paver repair. Repair includes rebuilding left cylinder’s, clevis and clevis pin MOTION John Wieczorek made a motion based on estimate from Pencor to do repair of cylinders, clevis and pins. Seconded by Bruce Steigerwalt. Franklin Ruch, yes; John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes 3-0 vote. Motion carried.

Roller MOTION Bruce Steigerwalt made a motion to have Powerco replace the starter. Seconded by John Wieczorek. Franklin Ruch, yes; John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes 3-0 vote. Motion Carried.
New Holland Tractor MOTION Bruce Steigerwalt made a motion to repair New Holland Tractor at Ag Industrial for $500.00. Seconded by John Wieczorek. Franklin Ruch, yes; John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes 3-0 vote. Motion Carried.
COG Sale List of items must be sent by September 1, 2017, items must be clearly marked and delivered on September 27, 2017 and the sale is on September 30, 2017. MOTION Bruce Steigerwalt made a motion to approve the six items on the list to be sold at the COG sale on September 30, 2017. Seconded by Franklin Ruch. Franklin Ruch, yes; John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes 3-0 vote. Motion Carried.
DEP granted permission to have recycling event on September 21, 2017

THOMAS MACE, MAYOR RE: REQUEST FOR FIRE POLICE TO ASSIST WITH TRAFFIC AT HALLOWEEN PARADE MOTION: Bruce Steigerwalt made a motion to authorize fire police to help with traffic control at Lehighton Halloween Parade. OFFICIALS: Bruce Steigerwalt: Spent half day with our road department employees for training of the asphalt zipper, it went well. I completed the pre-and post-check list for zipper. I was able to get a $25.00 gift card from Giant for our gift basket for convention.
John Wieczorek: Interviewed Joelle Mota for the position of part time police officer. I would recommend him for hire. MOTION John Wieczorek made a motion to hire Joelle Mota part time police officer, pending that he passes all required testing. Seconded by Bruce Steigerwalt. Franklin Ruch, yes; John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes 3-0 vote.
Carl Faust: I was on the maintenance building roof, didn’t see anything open. When it rains I’ll come over and crawl up there.
Franklin Ruch: Prior to the meeting we had an executive session for personnel.
ADJOURNMENT: MOTION Bruce Steigerwalt made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:50PM. Seconded by John Wieczorek. Franklin Ruch, yes; John Wieczorek, yes and Bruce Steigerwalt, yes. 3-0 vote. Motion carried.
