MASTERS INVITATIONALS AT USA TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS MAY SET WORLD & US RECORDS WITH OLYMPIAN JOHN TRAUTMANN & WORLD CHAMPION ANSELM LEBOURNE IN MEN’S 1500, NATIONAL CHAMPIONS MAURELHENA WALLES & LATRICIA DENDY IN WOMEN’S 300: SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2:35 PM, REGGIE LEWIS TRACK, BOSTON, MA

Boston, MA – “It’s going to be an amazing field-the Women’s 300 field will be really good and the Men’s could produce two World records,” said Mark Cleary, USATF Masters Invitationals Chair, of the Men’s Masters 1500 and Women’s Masters 300 meters at the upcoming USA Track & Field Indoor Championships at Reggie Lewis Track in Boston, MA, Sunday, March 1. The Masters Men’s 1500 is at 2:35 PM and the Masters Women’s 300 is at 2:50 PM.

“Olympian John Trautmann just broke the Indoor 45-49 Mile record on Feb 14, 2015 with a 4:12.33. The record was held by Tony Young and Tony is the current Indoor world record holder for 45-49 1500 m with a time of 3:57.91. John has a great shot at breaking that record on March 1st at the Reggie Lewis Center,” Cleary said

Trautmann's list of individual accomplishments is immense. He was an Olympian, and won the '92 Olympic trials in the 5000 Meter Run (13:40.30) over Bob Kennedy. He is a national champion, a five-time All-American, a three-time Penn Relay champion, an 11-time BIG EAST champion, a two-time BIG EAST Indoor Meet's Outstanding Performer, a four-time IC4A champion, currently holds three Georgetown and one BIG EAST record, and now is on the Penn Relays Wall of Fame twice. Trautmann was a national champion in 1990 in the outdoor 5000m, highlighting his domination in the 5000m during his time with the Blue & Gray. He was also the runner-up in the indoor 5000m, an event in which he holds the Georgetown and BIG EAST records, at the 1991 NCAA Championship. He won the BIG EAST Indoor 5000m title four-times, only one of seven conference athletes to accomplish that feat in any event, and the conference outdoor 5000m title in 1987, 1990 and 1991. After graduation, he advanced to the semifinals of the 5000m at the 1992 Olympic Games.
