Child Development Course Syllabus Bellefonte Area High School Mrs. Whyte

Child Development is a course designed to help students understand the development of children from two to five years of age. Topics discussed include physical, emotional, intellectual social development of children, safety, guidance, literacy, health and nutrition. The students will also learn the responsibility of caregivers and how to plan and instruct age appropriate lessons.

Outcomes The students will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of child developmental stages when observing and participating in the preschool lab. Engage children in stories while effectively reading books. Plan and prepare age appropriate lessons to implement in the preschool lab. Create nutritious snacks for the preschoolers. Plan a safe environment for preschool children to explore in. Utilize their daily journal entries for reflection,
