______TODAY’S PROGRAM: Pembroke Rotary Club Chronicle Jennifer Hind - Newspapers in Education VOLUME 28 NUMBER 03 JULY 17, 2008 Andrew Doughty introduced our speaker, his relative, in ______the person of Jennifer Hind, Education Services Co- July 17, 2008: ordinator for The Royal Gazette. Jennifer is also a teacher, an author, and a photographer. On Duty: Sasha Castle & Jan Card Newspapers in Education has been in Bermuda for 10 Attendance: 21 of 40 members (52.5%) years and Jennifer has been involved for 8 of those years. Honorary Members: none The program is funded 100% by The Royal Gazette and Visiting Rotarians: Phillip Buishard of St. Georges involves distributing some 7,000 to 8,000 newspapers Guests: none each week to various schools. Each June the paper prints Graduate President Leonard Gibbons. Our condolences go out to the family. Pages with photos from each school – another free service of the paper! Teachers can arrange to bring groups of students to tour The Royal Gazette premises on a regular basis to learn more about journalism.  Myanmar Relief: District has notified us that our donation for shelter boxes has been doubled by a District matching Grant. This results in 80 people benefitting from our donation! This is truly a wonderful program and Jan Card thanked Jennifer on behalf of the club for bringing news of it to our attention.  Speakers List: Barbara Edwards’ list went around again this week – our immediate need is for Speakers for ______August; please give Barbara a call!
