MINUTES OF THE MEETING

GURGAON PROGRESSIVE SCHOOLS COUNCIL, GURGAON

A General Body Meeting of the GPSC was held on 27th October 2016 at Ajanta Public School, Sector-31, Gurgaon, at 2:30pm

Proceedings

1. The Chairperson Ms Yasmin Contractor after ascertaining the quorum commenced the meeting by welcoming all the esteemed members. 2. Minutes of the last meeting held on Thursday, 29th September 2016 at DAV Public School, S Block, Uppal’s Southend, Sec-48-49, Gurgaon were ratified and approved. 3. Mr Vaibhav Kapoor, Principal Ajanta Public School made a brief presentation on how education today should be career-oriented and how participation of students in various programmes like ‘Youth Parliament’ make them future ready. Quoting and showing clippings from reports of ‘World Economic Forum’ he emphasized that it was the obligation of schools to nurture employable youth in order to deal effectively with the global youth unemployment crisis.

4. Ms Yasmin Contractor informed the member schools about the duties that have been alloted to them for the GPSC Conference scheduled on 3rd December 2016. (list attached)  It was unanimously decided that E-invites would be sent to all participating schools as well as esteemed guests. A letter of invitation on the GPSC letter-head would accompany the E-card to give it a more personal touch.  Leading publishers like S.Chand, Scholastic India and MBD Books would be approached to elicit some useful reading material for the participants.  It was declared that Prof. Dinesh Singh (Ex. Vice Chancellor Delhi University) would grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and Dr Sarah Richardson from ‘ACER’ would be the key-note speaker.

 The theme of the Conference being ‘Creating a Creative Curriculum’–resource persons from diverse fields are being invited to lead the discussions on their niche disciplines.

Ms Geeta Chandran-Music and Dance in curriculum Mr S Balan-Theatre in Education Ms Nandini and Mr Neeraj Mitra-Art Comes Alive in class rooms Ms Aparna Erry is coordinating the resource person for -Library as a Resource

 Budget for purchase of gifts and planters for the dignitaries was discussed and sanctioned to the school deputed to make the relevant purchases.

 Blue Bells Model School was given the additional responsibility of presenting ‘Vandana’- as the opening feature of the conference. (Time limit 2 minutes)

 The proceedings of the conference would be summed up by Ms Aditi Misra from DPS 45.

5. Ms Arti Chopra Principal Amity International School Sector-46 recounted her experiences of the 22nd CBSE Annual Conference held at Raipur. In sync with the times she presented a paper at the conference on ‘Use of ICT Skills in Today’s Education’.

6. Dr Indu Khetarpal, a known name in the field of school education who also happens to be Treasurer GPSC and an eminent member of Gurgaon Sahodaya elaborated on the proceedings of the CBSE Annual Conference and spoke at length about the session which she moderated and dwelt upon the theme of ‘I am ok, You are ok’.

7. Ms Sandhya Awasthi, Principal Salwan Public School, Gurgaon thanked the host school for its warm hospitality and wished all members a ‘Joyous Diwali’.

8. Some schools have already deposited their cheques of subscription for the conference. This comes as a gentle reminder to the others to expedite their contribution of Rs 14,000/- (for 1Principal +7 teachers) to Salwan Public School Gurgaon to facilitate further arrangements.
