*PRAYER OF DEDICATION AND THANKS Gracious and forgiving God, you have called us through your word to live in love and to be imitators of Christ. We know we fall far short of that, and yet your love is not held back from us. The giving we do this morning is small compared to all Jesus offered up on our behalf, but accept it as our expression of love and devotion as we strive to walk more faithfully in the way he showed us. In the power and potential of Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

The time has come for all of our students to prepare for the new school year. Please bring your school backpack with you to church next Sunday to have it blessed for the coming school year.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

********************************************************** COLLEGE CARE GIFT BAGS: Distribution of the gift bags is set for today. We hope that all of our students have a great year at college! The names are on the bags so please feel free to take yours after the service. If you are a family member of one of our students who isn’t here today, please deliver their bag to them. We wish to thank everyone who donated the items for in the bags. With your help, we have been able to give our college students a nice send-off from their friends at FUMC.

********************************************************** ROTARY BACKPACK PROGRAM: The Children’s Collections during the month of August will benefit the Rotary Food Back Pack Program. In the Irwin area there are children who go to school on Monday morning hungry. They have spent the whole weekend without a meal! The Norwin Rotary has come up with a plan to feed these children on the weekends. They are asking for your help with this program. Each Friday the children will be given a backpack filled with food for the weekend. They will return the empty backpack on Monday to be refilled for the following weekend. The Rotary is asking for monetary donations to fund this program. Any financial help you can give to assist in feeding these children will be greatly appreciated. Collected to date: 8/5 - $220.22

If you are interested in sponsoring flowers for that week, or any other week, please fill out an “Altar Flower” form, place it in a pew envelope with your payment of $24.00, and drop it in the offering plate.

******************************************************** MEN’S DARTBALL TEAM: Our Dartball team is preparing for the 2012-2013 season. The teams are from area churches and compete Monday evenings, September through April, with an awards banquet in May. If you are interested in being part of their team, or would just like more information, please contact the church.
