Professional Experience 2017–Present. Weight Cohort Study. Goals: The primary goal of the proposed project is to identify barriers and facilitators to engagement in weight management among patients receiving health care throughout LHSNet sites. Duties: Contribute to questionnaire development, data collection and analysis as the site P.I. and co-investigator of the project.

2016–Present. Regional Transit Service, Displacement of Marginalized Residents, and Health Conditions.

1 Goals: To assess the effect of the new public transportation service in Mesa, Arizona on the changes in the health-related neighborhood conditions, with focuses on food choices, housing conditions, and transportation opportunities, among renters in 12 targeted apartments near the new stations in the area. Duties: Oversees the project as a P.I. responsible for proposal writing, survey management, data collection and analysis.

2016–Present. Korea and U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) Goals: The proposed project aims to understand how household income in representative samples from the Korea and the U.S. is related to body mass index in two groups of men and women: currently married and never married. Duties: Conduct research including data analysis and writing papers in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Hruschka.

2015–Present. Better Post-Bariatric Lives (funded by Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust). Goals: Surgical treatments for obesity, like bariatric surgery, promise rapid weight loss and relief for those struggling with the daily challenges of obesity. Yet, many people struggle to maintain the benefits of the surgery over the long term, and can find that the many social and emotional adjustments can be unexpectedly challenging. Using insights from social science, including ethnography, this longitudinal project will focus on how people cope with the complex physical and social changes that happen after surgery for many years, to identify strategies that help make lifelong healthy weight maintenance less of a personal and medical struggle. Duties: Conduct research including data analysis and writing papers on the association between weight status and stigma in collaboration with Dr. Alexandra Brewis Slade and Dr. Sarah Trainer.

2015–Present. Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study. Goals: Estimate how body image concern mediate the association of high gestational weight gain / postpartum weight retention with depressive symptomatology, breastfeeding, and disordered eating in primapara mothers. Duties: Conduct research including data analysis and writing papers on obesity and mental health by using the data Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study (MoBa) in collaboration with Dr. Alexandra Brewis Slade.

2015–2016. New Jersey Childhood Obesity Survey. Goals: Estimate how eating behavior of children differ by three different types of food environment defined by availability of healthy food and walkability. Duties: Conduct research including data analysis and writing papers on the association between child obesity and food environment in the context of New Jersey in collaboration with Dr. Punam Ohri-Vachaspati and Dr. Robin Dewees.

2013. Tribal Indicators, US Census and ACS Data Collaborative Project. Goals: Estimate how many American Indians were under-counted due to the changes in self- reported race/ethnicity during the period between 1990 and 2010 and how it affected socioeconomic status of American Indian population. Duties: Data analysis and participation in academic conferences under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Jennifer Glick

2010–2013. Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) Project (NSF, Grant No. OISE-0729709).
