MUSIC AND DRAMA DIRECTOR

BROAD RESPONSIBILITY: The Music and Drama Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and supervising a music and drama program which compliments Camp Kintail’s philosophies, goals and programs. This program should encourage campers’ expression of music, drama and dance in daily life.

RESPONSIBLE TO:

1. Design appropriate music and drama lessons for camp sessions considering age and gender of campers and camp themes.

2. Order supplies needed for the summer with the Executive Director’s approval and within budget limits.

3. Organize and request maintenance of the Tickle Trunk and stage area. Work with the Program Director on the organization of the Prop Place.

4. Incorporate Camp Kintail’s commitment to faith and stewardship of the environment in music chosen and in drama exercises.

5. Assist staff members in supervision of campers during Music and Drama sessions by providing them with clear instructions and expectations.

6. Assist other staff members in using music and drama during theme days and skit nights.

7. Work with the Assistant Director in the organization of Friday night’s closing chapel.

8. Develop resources and equipment for on going Music & Drama projects.

9. Work with the Directors to provide musical leadership during staff commissioning.

10. Coordinate with the Director, Program Director and Arts and Crafts Director regarding special projects for Camp Create and Dance Camp.

11. Prepare and offer, or help others to prepare and offer, music and drama sessions for optional periods, morning activities and Free day.

12. Offer music leadership during Staff meetings and Staff FLASH.

13. Work with the Program Director in the organization of campfire, providing camper involvement, new songs, and skits. 14. Ensure the safe storage of supplies and equipment throughout and at the end of the season.

15. To lead a week of Kintail On the Road as required.

18. Provide the Director with a written final report. The final report should contain details about the program area and suggestions for the future.

19. Participate fully as a program staff member and by word and deed encourage a faithful Christian witness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A minimum of two years camp leadership experience. 2. A minimum one year of camp counselling experience. 3. A personal living faith. 4. Experience and expertise in music and drama leadership. 5. Teaching ability in two of the following areas: choir direction, play writing, comedy, drumming, guitar, piano, band direction, composing, costume and set design, worship leadership or dance. 6. A willingness to work in a team environment. 7. Standard First Aid with CPR “C”.
