Mr. Geir Flyckt-Pedersen

Terrier Group MR. GEIR FLYCKT-PEDERSEN Pinehurst, NC

Geir Flyckt-Pedersen has been involved with the dog world in several countries since the mid-1950s. He was born in Norway, lived most of his life in England and Sweden, and has resided in the U.S. since 2005. He has bred more than 100 Wire Fox Terrier champions, and has also bred or shown a number of other breeds.

Mr. Flyckt-Pedersen’s list of accomplishments in the sport is impressive.

His dogs have won many Dog of The Year awards in various Scandinavian countries. In 1974, one of his dogs became the first in history to win the award in both Norway and Sweden the same year, and he did it again with another dog in 1980. His dogs won the prestigious United Kingdom Pup of the Year twice, making him the first breeder to repeat the win.

One of his most notable successes came on the same day in 1990 when six of his Louline-bred Wire Fox Terriers won Bests in Show in five different countries.

In 1996, Mr. Flyckt-Pedersen and his wife, Gerd, were honored with the Tom Horner's Award of Excellence for their contributions to the British world of pedigree dogs.

He has judged in the U.S. and in most European countries, including the Terrier Group at Crufts in 2005. In the US, he currently judges Best in Show, the Terrier Group, a number of additional breeds, plus one Toy breed and Junior Showmanship.

This is his third Westminster assignment.
