POSITION POSTING

Position Title: Athletic Director (Part-time position)

Reports to: Jr./Sr. High Principal

Available: 2017-2018 School Year (contingent upon Board approval) Work schedule based on school year and summer activities/events Specific hours and schedule determined at time of employment

Essential Duties:

 Organize and administer Millington Community Schools’ 6th-12th grade athletic programs in accordance with School Board policy and all applicable rules and regulations  Advocate for the athletic program in the district and community  Develop and maintain a comprehensive athletic program which seeks the highest development of all participants and which respects the individual dignity of every student-athlete  Promote high standards of ethics, sportsmanship, and personal conduct by encouraging administration, coaches, staff, student-athletes, and community to commit to these high standards.  Ensure compliance with MSHAA rules and guidelines  Supervise coaching staff, athletic training, and support staff  Recommend candidates for coaching positions  Supervise athletic events and act as the host to officials and visiting schools  Attend all required home and state athletic events or assist in providing for appropriate supervision at each event.  Report to the High School Principal on matters related to the athletic program  Verify each athlete’s eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements for participation in each sport in accordance with MHSAA policies  Maintain student files of athletic records such as physical examination forms, rosters, eligibility forms, accomplishments, and awards  Schedule athletic activities, as well as all building sports-related activities, field and gym practice schedules, and use of all district practice facilities.  Supervise and evaluate pre-game, game, and post-game responsibilities  Maintain positive contact and relations with staff, athletes, community members, public groups, and organizations  Coordinate recognition programs such as awards ceremonies and parent nights  Approve and monitor athletics’ budget and expense management  Order and maintain inventory of all athletic equipment  Responsible for overseeing athletic facilities and athletic grounds  Arrange transportation for athletic contest participants in a timely and efficient manner  Coordinate efforts for closure of each sport season, including collection of the end-of-the-year summaries from coaches, evaluation of varsity coaches, equipment and uniform inventories, collection of keys, reconditioning and repairing of equipment, etc.  Other duties as may be assigned by administration Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree preferred

Experience: Two- to five-years’ experience in athletic administration preferred Experience in high school coaching preferred
