Page 2 of 6 Page 3 of 6 Detailed Task Description You are part of the IT support team. A delivery of IT equipment has just arrived. You have been asked to install a new mouse, keyboard, printer, zip drive and scanner to an existing computer system in the boss’s office.

Short Answer Questions (should be typed and include footers with page numbers and name)  Write down the questions you need to ask before installing the equipment. Specify the personnel you should direct the questions  Describe briefly how you would check the contents of the delivery and the areas you would pay attention to.  How would you enter the peripherals into the equipment inventory ?  Where should the software, manuals, warranty information and other documentation be stored? What procedures would you recommend for the storage of these items? Justify your answer  Discuss the OH & S and ergonomic considerations for the set-up of the equipment  Describe how you would test the new equipment  How would you ascertain client satisfaction with the new equipment?  What procedures would you recommend for the storage/disposal of the disconnected equipment?

Practical Task  Disconnect the mouse, printer and keyboard from the existing system  Connect the new equipment  Install new software and configure the computer to accept the new equipment  The hardware should be tested  Client satisfaction should be confirmed (teacher sign off) and changes should be made if necessary

Evidence Information  Ability to connect hardware peripherals according to vendor instructions with a minimum of down time to the system needs to be demonstrated  Ability to interpret vendor manuals needs to be demonstrated  OH & S regulations relating to working with electrical equipment must be adhered to
