Garden Organic, the UK’s leading organic growing charity, is dedicated to researching and promoting organic growing and food. Garden Organic’s purpose is to get as many people growing organically as possible. Our work is financed by our 22,000 members and numerous other funders and donors. Our beautiful headquarters is at Ryton Organic Gardens, 5 miles south-east of Coventry, although we support programmes all over the UK and overseas.

Post: Receptionist/Customer Services Administrator

Location: Garden Organic, Ryton

Reporting To: Customer Services Supervisor

Hours: Two part time roles as a job share, some flexibility with hours worked, these roles will cover 7 days a week, Monday to Sunday.

Salary & benefits: £14,000 pro rata, (to be reviewed at end of probationary period), contributory pension scheme, free parking, childcare vouchers & free Garden Organic Membership.

Overall purpose of the role:

To provide an excellent visitor experience at Ryton Organic Gardens.

To be the welcoming face of Garden Organic and deliver a positive experience for all visitors to the gardens, through the both reception and the shop front. To provide effective administration and support for all Garden Organic departments. Main Duties:

1. Welcome visitors to Ryton Organic Gardens in a professional manner. Take admissions fees and promote activities on site.

2. Process visitor and shop transactions through the till and card machine. The handling of cash will be required.

3. Manage stock levels and shop supplies to meet visitor needs and expectations.

4. Answer telephone calls, direct appropriately and take messages.

5. Ensure the visitor entrance, shop area and The Organic Way are kept clean and tidy at all times.

6. Perform administration duties for the charity, to include filing, data input and packing literature.

7. Order and maintain resources (consumables and stationery) to support the staff of Garden Organic.

8. Assist the Customer Services department with any ad hoc administration tasks.

It is the nature of work of Garden Organic that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable and varied. All staff are expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises where tasks are not specifically covered in the Job Description and have to be undertaken.
