To Mark Snyder From Peter Denneno, President, Local 1512 (Joint Statement, Note Deletions)

From Town of Stoughton Board of Selectmen and Stoughton Firefighters Local 1512: The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Stoughton and the Stoughton Firefighters Local 1512 are pleased to announce that a resolution has been reached concerning the issue of Fire Captain Doug Campbell¢s military leave benefits. Effective immediately, Captain Campbell will be paid the difference between the base weekly salary he receives from the Town and the weekly salary he receives from the military. In addition, Captain Campbell will receive his longevity pay and vacation accrual and will be permitted to continue on the Town¢s health insurance plan at the same contribution rate as active employees.

From Stoughton Firefighters Local 1512: On February 29, 2008, Stoughton Firefighters Local 1512, along with the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts, held a press conference at which the patriotism of the citizens of the Town of Stoughton was brought into question. This event sparked outrage among the citizens of Stoughton and resulted in the opening of a dialogue amongst the Town¢s citizens on the matter. It by no means was meant to be disrespectful to the residents of the Town. What we did find out was most encouraging; that the patriotism of the citizens of Stoughton is second to none. As the Global War on Terrorism enters its 7th year, it is encouraging to find that the citizens of Stoughton¢s support for our troops has not diminished. You have always been there for us and we will certainly always be there for you.

Sincerely,

Peter Denneno, President Stoughton Firefighters Local 1512

From Stoughton Board of Selectmen: The Board of Selectmen wishes to express its support for Captain Campbell and all of the men and women of this community who serve in the armed forces. The Board recognizes and appreciates the contributions and sacrifices that these individuals must make when they are called up to active military duty. It is because of them and all of the veterans that came before them that we, the citizens of this great community and of this nation, are able to enjoy the rights and freedoms that we do. The Board of Selectmen extends its deepest thanks to them and wishes Captain Campbell a swift and safe return.

Sincerely,

Stoughton Board of Selectmen Richard Levine, Chairman Antonio Sousa, Vice-Chairman Scott Carrara John Kowalczyk Joseph Mokrisky
