YWCA Girls in Sports Clinics

Bristol, Tennessee - Saturday, April 17th will kick-off the 14th Annual YWCA National Girls and Women in Sport campaign at the Community Health & Safety Fair 9am-1pm at Anderson Park with FREE hands-on sports demonstrations. This is the prelude to a series of four upcoming clinics for area girls 6 through 12 years of age, sponsored by Citizen’s Bank.

YWCA Girls in Sports is a great opportunity for young girls to be exposed to the various sports that may be offered at high school and collegiate level. Area coaches and athletes from all over the Tri-Cities will be on hand to offer tips, advice, and basic maneuvers in Badminton, Basketball, Soccer, and Volleyball. Nets, rackets and various sports equipment will be available so that all girls have hands-on experience with each sport at the fair as well as the upcoming clinics.

YWCA Girls in Sports clinics spring schedule is as follows:

Basketball clinic- Saturday, April 24th @ VA High School Gymnasium Soccer clinic- Saturday, May 1st @ YWCA Gymnasium Volleyball clinic- Saturday, May 8th @ YWCA Gymnasium Badminton clinic- Saturday, May 22nd @ YWCA Gymnasium

All clinics are from 9:30 a.m. -12 noon. Pre-registered girls can arrive any time after 9:00 a.m. at the YWCA except for the basketball clinic which will be held at Virginia High School. Girls should wear comfortable clothing with sneakers and eat a hearty breakfast for an active morning! All participants will receive a certificate of participation at the conclusion of the event and given the opportunity to get signatures from the coaches and athletes. Anyone who wishes to register for the clinic may pick up forms at YWCA Bristol at 106 State Street. Cost for the clinic is $10.00. Commemorative T-shirts will be on sale for $5.00 at each clinic.
