Contract: Fixed term for 2 years

Background Mosaic is an initiative of Business in the Community, a not-for-profit movement of over 850 member companies concerned with making a positive impact in the community. Founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007, Mosaic’s mission is to create opportunities for young people of all backgrounds growing up in our most deprived communities, championed by Muslims and harnessing the power of positive thinking. In doing so, we also aim to increase opportunities for understanding between people of different backgrounds. We link young people with inspirational role models to boost their confidence, self- efficacy and long-term employability. We provide mentoring programmes tailored to the needs of particular groups: Primary School students –our mentors inspire young girls and their mothers to pursue their education and consider the careers available to them. Secondary School students – group mentoring is supplemented with World of Work visits and exciting presentations. Students also have access to our Enterprise Challenge competition, and an intensive programme for mentees demonstrating leadership potential. Young ex-offenders – one-to-one mentoring support is provided for those making the difficult transition from prison back to their communities, coupled with access to employability programmes
Purpose of the role To provide the lead within Mosaic on all events and to support the Head of Development & Communictions on wider communications work. The post-holder will provide excellent planning and delivery of our high-profile, strategic events. In addition, the post-holder will support Mosaic’s wider communications efforts, with particular responsibility for our growing social media profile and promotional work. Main Responsibilities 1) To create, plan and deliver strategic events which will promote and underpin the purposes of Mosaic.
2) To support regional colleagues in their planning and delivery of events, in liaison with Mosaic’s Head of Operations and supported by the Mosaic Team Administrator.
3) To oversee the associated communications and media work around Mosaic events. Including:
i) Liaise with BITC media team – including ensuring that the BITC planning grid is updated with intended events, communications and media work ii) Liaise with MarketingManager to ensure promotion via Mosaic website (specifically, ensure press release is uploaded to news section, write content for early promotion of events) and social media channels iii) Manage relationships and negotiate rates with photographers and ensure that they are briefed appropriately by colleagues. Ensure an increasing bank of photographs which suitably promote Mosaic iv) Manage the stock of pull up banners and other branded materials. 4) Maintain and oversee the Mosaic team calendar of events, including booking events into the Mosaic outlook diary.
5) To have lead responsibility for Mosaic’s social media channels.
6) To work with MarketingMgr on Mosaic’s PR efforts.
7) To provide general communications support. Person Specification Knowledge/ Educated to degree level or equivalent Education or equivalent experience

Annual leave
Business in the Community offers employees 25 days annual leave each year, and our holiday year runs from January to December. This rises on a sliding scale to a maximum of 30 days after 10 years service.
Employees can also "buy" more holiday entitlement or "sell" days unused.
Pensions
We operate a Group Personal Pension scheme, which employees can join after three months' service. Business in the Community will contribute up to 5% of salary providing the individual contributes a minimum of 2.5%.

Business in the Community participates in the HMRC recognised Childcare Voucher salary sacrifice scheme. Our provider is currently Edenred.

Employee Volunteering
Employees are encouraged to volunteer in their local communities. You will have the opportunity to take part in volunteering activities with your team whilst working in Business in the Community and we will also allow you two days additional paid leave to volunteer in work time.
Life assurance
Payment of four times the annual salary will be paid to the estate of any individual in the event of death while they are employed at Business in the Community.
