Canadian Fir&Larch prices headline price guide update Several updates and changes to the Random Lengths price guides are coming in early October. Chief among them are new prices for Fir&Larch #2&Btr 2x4-2x10 from Canadian mills in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. This production competes directly in U.S. markets with Fir&Larch output from mills in the U.S. Inland region, as well as with Douglas Fir produced at U.S. mills in the Coast region. These prices will be published in a column next to Inland Fir&Larch on Page 5 of the Lumber Price Guide, as well as on the Midweek Report. Also on Page 5 and Midweek, prices for Stud grade in all Inland species will convert to #2/#2&Btr. A deduction for Stud grade will be published as a footnote. This change is a result of an evolution away from Stud grade to #2/#2&Btr. In the Panel Price Guide, the top heading for particleboard and medium density fiberboard will be changed to “Composite Panels” to more accurately encompass all reported prices under this heading.
