WILD RIDEZ: The Card Game Game Play Rules

The Game Players plan a car design and purchase the elements of that design, then put their final designs in competition against each other in a car show. The car design with the most points at the end of the game wins Best In Show.

Set Up Game should include 5 players, the players should sit around a table. One of the 5 should take on the task of BANK, one is the JUDGE, one player is the DEALER and one player is the STORE. The fifth player reads the rules and keeps the game in motion.

 BANK passes out the money: each player gets $2500 – three $500 bills and ten $100 bills.  DEALER deals one “Original Body” card to each player, one “Sound System: Standard Components: CD, AM/FM radio” card and one “Sound System: Standard Components: Stereo Speakers” card. The remainder of the “Sound System” cards should be handed over to the STORE.  STORE handles all of the yellow cards, which are the options for the Paint, Engine, Interior, Tires, Rims and Suspension components and all Sound System: Upgraded cards.  JUDGE should have one score card for use in the Car Show at the end of the game.

Game Play

TIPS:  Think carefully about the cards you acquire: every point, positive or negative, counts toward your final score. While a component may give you lots of points in the category where you earn double points, the low or negative points in another category may harm your final score more than the double points help it.  Remember that your $2500 is not enough to pay for the most expensive component in every category. Spend your money wisely – if you don’t have enough money during the purchasing round to buy all six components, your car will be automatically disqualified.  You do have the option of trading in your Sound System cards for an extra $100. However, make that decision carefully, as having an incomplete Sound System at the end of the game will automatically lose you 10 points off your final score. Sometimes it’s worth it, but not every time.

Wild Ridez – Holley Mayville Round One: Purchasing The player to the right of the DEALER begins, and may purchase one Paint component card from the store. Money is turned in to the BANK. The turn continues clockwise around the table.

On the next turn, the player who purchased the least expensive component in the previous round will go first, then the turn will continue around the table clockwise.

Each turn is dedicated to a different component: first the Paint, then the Engine, then the Interior, then the Tires, then the Rims, and finally the Suspension. The purchasing process continues around the table through six turns until each player has purchased the six needed components.

 DO NOT purchase “Sound System: Upgraded” cards during this round.  Players must have enough money to cover the cost of each component.  A player may sell the Sound System components he or she does have to the BANK for extra money.

Round Two: Trade After all car components (not Sound System) purchases are made, the players may trade with other players for elements they were unable to purchase during the purchasing round.

 When trading between players, the trade must be one card for one card. Dollar value on the card does not matter, and the difference between dollar values on the card do not need to be made up.  Players may also return items to the STORE for another item (one card for one card). Dollar value does matter when returning to the store: if the player trades with the STORE for an item of greater value than the component he or she is returning, then the player must pay the difference to the BANK. If the item received in the trade is worth less than the returned item, then the BANK must pay the difference to the player.  If the trading round goes on for too long, the fifth player, who is in charge of rule- reading, may give a 3 minute warning and end the round three minutes after that warning.

If no players are interested in trading, the game may continue to the next round. No one is required to trade components.

Wild Ridez – Holley Mayville Round Three: Sound System At this point, players with extra money may purchase Sound System upgrades or replace standard Sound Systems sold earlier.

NOTE: During the Judging phase at the car show, the condition of the Sound System can count for or against a car.

 Incomplete Sound Systems – a system must have either CD, AM/FM radio or mp3, satellite radio AND speakers to be considered “complete” – cars with incomplete Sound Systems are docked 10 points on their final scores.  Standard Sound Systems – if a car has the original system (CD, AM/FM radio AND stereo speakers) the car neither gains nor loses points on the final score. Partial upgrades also receive zero bonus points on the final score (see below).  Upgraded Sound Systems – a car can earn 10 bonus points if they have a COMPLETELY Upgraded System. A complete upgrade MUST include: mp3/satellite radio, amplifier, enhanced surround speakers and a sub-woofer.

Endgame: Car Show Players assemble their cars and present them to the JUDGE for scoring.

 Any car that is missing any of the six components (paint, engine, interior, tires, rims, suspension) is automatically disqualified.  Only ONE card per component may be presented.  JUDGE totals style points. NOTE: each type of car body earns double points in a particular style category.  JUDGE adds bonus for upgraded Sound Systems or deducts points for incomplete Sound Systems.  Total scores are compared. The player whose car earns the highest Grand Total wins Best in Show.
