Course Description

Algebra I provides students with exposure and sufficient opportunity to meet and exceed district and state standards. The course emphasizes formal development of algebraic skills and concepts. The skills learned in Algebra I will prepare students to advance along the mathematics spectrum to Geometry and beyond.

Spiral notebook or binder paper with 3-ring binder (preferred) Dry erase pens 3 x 5 index cards Pencils, erasers, and pens

Grading

80% Assessment 20% Engagement & Effort Quizzes Homework Chapter Exams Classwork including Notes Final Exams Participation and Preparedness Projects Other Activities & Opportunities

Homework is due as scheduled. Late homework will be accepted at 60% of full value. The Freedom High School Math Department allows for retakes on assessments. To be eligible the student must meet the following prerequisites: 1) Student proactively schedules retake with Mr. Hollister. 2) All homework pertaining to the assigned quiz or exam must be completed. 3) Complete study guide “notes” for use during retake. 4) Retake opportunity expires two days before next chapter exam.
