WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The Sutter Yuba Community Foundation invites applicants to apply for a Workforce Development Award. This is a one-time $500 award granted to a graduating high school senior seeking vocational training in an accredited technical or trade school program. Two and four year schools are not excluded.

ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must 1) be a graduating senior at a high school in the Yuba-Sutter area, 2) maintain a 2.3 GPA overall, and 3) show proof of acceptance to a an accredited technical or trade school program.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS Applications are available through your high school attendance or counseling office or online at www.sutteryubacommunityfoundation.org. Please submit your completed application to Sutter Yuba Community Foundation, PO Box 3165, Yuba City, CA 95992 or hand deliver to SYCF, co/o River Valley Community Bank, 1629 Colusa Avenue, Yuba City. Applications must be received by 5:00 pm (not postmarked by) on April 2, 2018.

YOU MUST FORWARD THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS WITH THIS APPLICATION.

(1) TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION Please submit two letters of recommendation, giving information about your character, ability to achieve the educational goal, ambition, and financial needs. Letters from the principal, vice- principal, attendance supervisor, counselor or teacher are preferred.

(2) TRANSCRIPT Include a copy of your high school transcripts.

(3) ESSAY Type or write legibly an essay regarding your educational and career goals (approximately one page double-spaced). Include reasons for your choice of school, area of major and a statement of how any scholarship funds received would be used in reaching your stated goals. Clearly state your personal financial responsibility and your family’s ability to assist financially in your education.

(4) PROOF OF ACCEPTANCE to an accredited trade or technical school or 2- or 4-year college or university trade or technical program.

(5) A RESUME including all extra curricular and co-curricular activities for the past 4 years, broken down by year. Include employment, community service, sports, awards, and leadership positions.

(6) A COPY OF THIS COMPLETED APPLICATION
