Payroll & Payables Coordinator

We are currently seeking an individual to join our team in the position of Payroll & Payables Coordinator.

The Position

Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll & Payables Coordinator is a key member of the Finance Team and is responsible for managing daily financial transactions including accounts payable, bank deposits, and payroll administration. The Payroll & Payables Coordinator also assists in the preparation of ad hoc reporting.

Accounts Payable  Generate accounts payable, vouchers, and batches.  Validate accounts payable back-up.  Generate and print cheques.  Prepare and distribute mail out of processed cheques.

Bank Deposits  Back up for daily bank deposits.  Verify amounts received daily.  Prepare the bank deposits and associated deposit slips.

Payroll & Benefits Administration  Administer payroll.  Process payroll on-line with Ceridian bi-weekly.  Reconcile payroll, benefits and pension plan bi-weekly/monthly.

Other Reporting  Perform other related duties as required.  Create constituent records in Raisers Edge

Education & Experience

 Diploma in business or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities  Minimum of two (2) years accounts payable, deposit and payroll processing.  Preference given to experience in processing payroll and benefits.  Experience with Great Plains Dynamics, an asset.  Great Plains training.  Accounts payable cycle.  Ceridian training.  Understanding of G/L account coding and structure.  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.  Ability to plan, organize, problem-solve and make sound decisions.  Ability to handle a variety of tasks and priorities at the same time.  Strong attention to detail.  Excellent people skills and demonstrated maturity; ability to deal with others effectively and work as part of a team.  Understanding of requirement for confidentiality.
