Job Title: RYA High Performance Club & Paralympic Pathway Officer

Reporting to: Senior High Performance Manager

Date: September 2014

Purpose To provide support to the Senior High Performance Manager and English High Performance Managers, primarily for the support of the High Performance Clubs (HPCs) and the Paralympic Pathway.

Context  The RYA must continue to provide the best support to its volunteers, coaches and clubs in order to have a sailor development pathway which is clear and progressive, and to retain Great Britain’s position as the world’s No.1 sailing nation.  The RYA is establishing and supporting the group of 10-12 High Performance Clubs (HPCs) in England over a four-year period to support the training of GBR sailors locally based to each club.  The RYA is establishing and supporting a Paralympic pathway through HPCs to support the training of GBR sailors.  The RYA HPCs are key to helping English Squad sailors to access high quality coaching, more often, at a local level whilst minimising the costs.  The RYA wishes to maintain the high regard in which it is held by sporting bodies and Sports Councils and this necessitates effective organisation, delivery and reporting of programme areas.  The RYA is required to report to Sport England nationally (against KPIs) on progress achieved as a result of their investment.  The RYA HPC & Paralympic Pathway Officer will co-ordinate and report on the HPC and Paralympic Club activity.  The Officer will work closely with the 3 field-based High Performance Managers, Coach Development Manager, and 7 field-based Regional Development Officers to co-ordinate the programmes and to keep everyone informed of developments, which may have an impact on their own interaction with Sport England.  The nature of the programmes can necessitate being available for events or meetings with volunteers and clubs outside normal office hours from time to time.  Liaises directly with High Performance Coaches and with the HPCs, to ensure a high level of support, including coordination of regular meetings and CPD. This would include the on-going support from RYA Sports Science and other support staff.

RYA High Performance Club & Paralympic Pathway Officer September 2014 Dimensions  Assist the development and on-going management of all matters relating to RYA High Performance Clubs.  Assist with the development and on-going management of all matters relating to RYA Paralympic Pathway.  Support the High Performance Managers in the reporting of KPIs and direct liaison with Sport England.

Accountabilities  Act as the first point of contact at HQ for current and potential RYA HPCs and Paralympic Pathway programmes.  Maintain a list of key initiatives for all the RYA HPCs to ensure a coordinated and progressive approach to projects.  Prepare, monitor and control all administrative and budgetary aspects of the two programmes including coach contracts, fees, expenses and certification.  Liaise with the High Performance Managers regarding coach education (CPD) requirements, events and administration for the HPC and Paralympic Pathway coaches.  Support the High Performance Managers in the context of the RYA HPCs and Paralympic Pathway.  Oversee national RYA HPC programme and Paralympic Pathway resources and benefits.  Coordinate, with the classes, coaches and HPMs, RYA HPC regional training.  Collate data from the Racing and Sport Development programmes and present reports as necessary to Sport England in written format, on the achievement of KPIs resulting from the Sport England ‘Club and Coach’ programme funding.
