Things can’t possibly get much worse in our economy, can they? As you undoubtedly know, non-profits have been experiencing shell shock at the down turns in the event attendance, registrations and revenue since last fall. The Arizona Geriatrics Society is no different; 2008 did not end as we had hoped. Challenges like these that we face today turn us back to reality and connect us again with our fundamental purpose. Those of us in healthcare know something about meeting challenges. So, AzGS is approaching 2009 positively and with creativity. In spite of the economic gloom, we are passionate about our mission. We know how important it is for you to continue to add to your knowledge base whether you are a physician (geriatrician, internal med, family practice, etc.), NP, PA, nurses, social workers, case mangers, LTC administrators, etc. To help, we are offering three continuing education conferences this year – Spring Geriatric Mental Health & Aging, Summer Nursing and the Fall Symposium. In addition, we offer two issues of the AzGS Journal and monthly (almost) dinner programs. All designed to help advance geriatric healthcare in Arizona.
This email offers some updates on upcoming AzGS and outside events and articles of interest.
