A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of the Reverend Terry L. Sammons upon the occasion of his retirement on December 31, 2003. WHEREAS, Terry L. Sammons is a native of Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky; he is the devoted husband of Betty Benningfield Sammons; and he is the loving father of Todd, Jeffrey, and Tamara; and WHEREAS, Terry L. Sammons attended the University of Louisville, and he received his seminary training at the Louisville Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; and WHEREAS, at age 16, Terry L. Sammons became a choir director; he continued to serve in churches as youth director and/or minister of music for 18 years; he answered his call to the pastorate, and led the congregations of Warren Woods Baptist Church from 1974-1982; Auburndale Baptist Church from 1982-1984; and New Heights Baptist Church from 1984 through 2003; and WHEREAS, during his 47 years in the ministry, Terry L. Sammons has dedicated his life to Christianity and committed to teaching the Word of God; he has been admired for his guidance and wisdom, and the congregations he has served through the years have indeed been blessed to receive the peace and joy and kindness and generosity that Terry L. Sammons has so lovingly given; and WHEREAS, Terry L. Sammons retired from the ministry on December 31, 2003; and the congregation of New Heights Baptist Church will be hosting a pastor's retirement celebration in his honor on January 31, 2004 at the Executive Inn West in Louisville, where they will express their deep appreciation to him for the many years he shepherded their flock; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The House of Representatives is indeed honored to recognize the

Reverend Terry L. Sammons upon the occasion of his retirement on December 31, 2003. We thank him for his many contributions to the citizens of this Commonwealth, and wish him success in all future endeavors. Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Reverend Terry L. Sammons upon the occasion of his retirement from the ministry on December 31, 2003. Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Perry Clark for presentation to the Reverend Terry L. Sammons.
