CALL TO ARTIST & APPLICATION BOYCE THOMPSON ARBORETUM FOURTH ANNUAL ARTIST AT THE ARBORETUM SATURDAY, April 30, 2011 9:00AM – 4:00PM

ABOUT THE SHOW: A fine arts and craft show at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, 37615 US 60, Superior, AZ 85273 is being coordinated by Soroptimist International of Gold Canyon on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 9:00Am to 4:00PM. This show combines the unique atmosphere of the Arboretum with musical entertainment and a stroll through fine art booths.

A knowledgeable art-buying public is expected. Attendance exceeds 1000 for these types of events. To ensure a more intimate experience, this show will be limited to 40 booths. As suggested by previously participating artists, the booths encircle the picnic area to centralize the event and maximize exposure of all exhibitors to Arboretum visitors. This will be a juried event for selection purposes only. All applicants will remain on the mailing list for next year’s event.

Soroptimist International of Gold Canyon is a local chapter of an international organization that helps women and girls locally and internationally.

 Set up 7:00AM/Show 9:00AM -4:00PM  Booth location is the sole discretion of the Art Show Committee and assigned to facilitate traffic  Artist must be Arizona residents and at least 18 years  Booth space is 10’X10’ and will be located around the old perimeter of the picnic area. Parking to be used for unloading is approximated 30 yards away. Once unloaded, vehicles need to be removed to a more remote area to maximize visitor parking. FEES: Application Fee: $15.00 non-refundable fee due with application. Postmark deadline February 15, 2011.

Exhibitor Fee: A $45.00 non-refundable fee is to be mailed in upon notification of selection as an exhibitor on/or before February 21, 2011 and received no later than February 25, 2011.

CONTRIBUTION: This year Soroptimist International of Gold Canyon, a non-profit women’s group committed to helping women locally and internationally, are asking all artists to design and decorate a wooden birdhouse, provided by Soroptimist, to be raffled at their booth. Artists may also choose to donate one made in their own media. Photos of these decorated birdhouses will become the sole property of Soroptimist International of Gold Canyon and may be used for additional fundraising activity. 20 Birdhouses will be selected for inclusion on the event poster: artist names will be included on the poster. Birdhouses need to be completed and returned by March 11, 2011 for poster consideration. Check the appropriate box on the application, if you would like to be considered. The show will ONLY run Saturday, April 30, 2011. Artist will be polled for event recommendations for future years. This is expected to be the FOURTH show of many.

HOW TO APPLY: Sign, date and mail the application below as directed. Use the checklist to ensure a complete application is submitted, Postmark deadline February 14, 2011.

NOTIFICATION: Selected artists will be notified by phone on or before February 21, 2011. Upon notification of selection, the artist must submit the non-refundable $45.00 EXHIBITOR FEE which is to be received no later than February 25, 2011. (Birdhouses need to be completed and returned by March 11, 2011 for poster consideration.)

AGREEMENT The undersigned does hereby discharge, release and hold harmless, SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL of GOLD CANYON, their members and their sponsoring organization, BOYCE THOMPSON ARBORETUM from any and all matter of action, suits, damages, or claims whatsoever arising from any loss or damages or claims to person or property of the undersigned and/or persons who are assisting while in possession or under the supervision of SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF GOLD CANYON.

I hereby consent to the enforcement of all rules and guidelines. Furthermore, the undersigned artist hereby certifies that all display work is handcrafted and created by the artist/seller. This contract is non-cancelable and non-transferable after February 21, 2011. There is a $25.00 fee for all returned checks and cancellations.

SOROPTIMSIT INTERNATIONAL OF GOLD CANYON has permission to publish photographs of me, my booth and my artwork for purposes related to promotion of the show, past and future. All artwork DONATED ON BIRDHOUSES, as assigned pieces from SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF OLD CANYON, are the property of SIGC and the undersigned understands that any sales of donated artwork donated on birdhouses provided and/or poster of birdhouses are the property of SIGC to be used for fundraising in the SIGC tent the day of event and anytime thereafter. SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF GOLD CANYON reserves the right to make final interpretation of all rules and regulations and to disqualify any exhibitor for failure to comply with them.
