A Message from the Florida Chapter:

The Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for Vice President for 2011/12. Please include a biography with your nomination as this will be helpful with the review and selection process.

If you have any questions, please contact Rick Keeney, Karen Johnson or Pat Overton. All West Coast Branch members who wish to make a nomination for this office please forward this information to Muhammad Abdur-Rahim, District Representative at [email protected].

2011-2012 Officer Elections Information - PLEASE READ

To the Members of the West Coast Branch:

Please be advised that nominations are now being accepted for the Offices of the American Public Works Association Florida Chapter West Coast Branch.

At our last Executive Committee meeting, the Nominating Committee asked for nominations for candidates from the Executive Committee for the positions of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary. The following nominations were made: Charles Jordan (City of Largo) for Chairperson, Randy Shane (Roadway Management) for Vice Chairperson, Salahedin Garbaj (Hillsborough County) for Treasurer, and Brandi Allegood (RS&H) for Secretary.

If there are any other nominations for any of the positions please forward to my attention at [email protected] or in reply to this email address [email protected]. These nominations need to be made by written or electronic declaration to the above email addresses no later than January 7, 2011 at close of business. Nominations will not be valid unless an email from the nominated member accompanies it, accepting the nomination.

West Coast Branch 2011 E.D. Burkett Scholarship Program

We are proud, once again, to be able to offer scholarships to deserving individuals to continue their education in Public Works-related fields, not only at the college level but through vocational schools and training as well. If you are interested in this year's scholarship program and would like to apply, please click the link below and submit an application. We will be providing electronic communications such as this, event information, and our quarterly newsletters through email. Unfortunately, a few of our members currently do not have an email listed with APWA. If you have a coworker who you know to be a member of APWA and our Branch but who does not receive our emails, please forward them this newsletter and let them know they can update their email address through the "Members Only" section of www.apwa.net. They should also email [email protected] so that their email address can be utilized immediately.

Special Note: Bob Nowak has been in the hospital for the past few days recovering from a minor operation that had some complications. He is doing well and we look for him to return to work soon. I will work on getting you contact information should you wish to send a card, etc

As many of you know our member and Past Chairman, Ken Carpenter was recently hospitalized; our prayer goes out to both of them with a speedy recovery.
