POSITION: Disability Support Services Assistant- Retention Services This is a full-time position. Employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College and not with an individual campus. All employees are subject to work relocation based on college needs. POSITION DESCRIPTION This position is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties in support of student affairs functions for Disability Support Services. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma required. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. SALARY/BENEFITS $26,650.80 annual salary. JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties in support of student affairs functions for Disability Support Services.
MAJOR DUTIES
Arranges individual testing accommodations for students with disabilities for several campus locations via the online testing accommodation request. Proctors examinations as needed. Sends accommodation letters to faculty at the beginning of each term. Sends Early Alert requests to faculty at mid-term Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; makes appointments; refers to appropriate personnel. Supports endeavors in student support activities to include orientation for students enrolled in disability services, workshops, guest speaker presentations, welcome back activities, disability awareness events, resource fairs, and special events. Available on multiple campus locations to gather and review basic information in regard to Disability Support Services, assist the student with completion of intake paperwork, and set appointments for the coordinator when necessary. Contacts at-risk students alerted within the TEAMS system. Maintains office supply inventory; purchases supplies as needed. Maintains assistive technology equipment inventory sheets. Contributes to the planning and execution of student affairs events and activities during the term. Enters student information to computerized SAM disability database and BANNER. Provides assistance for the registration process. Prepares correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and other documents. Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and equipment Knowledge of customer service standards. Knowledge of testing procedures and standardized tests. Knowledge of department and college policies and procedures. Knowledge of programs of study, admissions and registration procedures, tuition and fees, basic financial aid procedures, and other information to ensure students are provided correct information. Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in interpersonal relations and dealing with the public Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS Disability Support Services Assistant Student Affairs Page 3 The Disability Services Coordinator assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot- checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related administrative and clerical duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clerical support for student affairs functions. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of student affairs functions.

Contacts are typically with students, faculty, staff, college administrators, vendors, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to resolve problems, to give or exchange information, or to provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects. The work is typically performed in an office.
