SKEGNESS “SO YOU WANT TO BE A STAR ” TALENT CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Time limit for each act must not exceed five minutes. Any act running over this will be disqualified. Acts will be timed.

2. Acts presenting a safety hazard will not be accepted, non acceptable acts to be decided at the organizers and venues discretion.

3. Contestants must be strictly amateur. They must not be/have been under contract for reimbursement for their performance. Performers holding union cards are not eligible. Expense money is not considered reimbursement for performance.

4. Contestants may perform a maximum of one time in any one category ONLY in the entire contest, unless winning the category and therefore becoming eligible for the final. If this rule is violated, the individual contestant and/or group will be disqualified.

5. The 50% rule will be strictly adhered to concerning groups. In a duo, if one contestant is 12 and under and the other is 13 and over, they will compete in the Teen Division. In a group of three or larger, if 50% or more of the group is 13 and over, they will compete in the Teen Division. No one over the age of 14 may perform or be a part of a Pre Teen Division Group, including accompanists.

6. With the expected number of participants, it is advised to register early. Please submit a copy of each contestant's birth certificate with application and photograph. Incomplete entry blanks will not be considered. Once the application has been accepted any substitutions for performer, music or routine must be made in writing. No applications will be accepted by phone.

Only contestants planning to advance to the Talent Showcase Final should submit applications to qualifying events. While judging for this category will involve a basic level of technique, entertainment and showmanship will weigh heavily to enter the Talent Showcase Final, an individual must first compete and be one of the 10 winners in a Category in the Talent Show.

7. The judges' decisions are final. Judges will score based on: - a. Technique/Natural Ability 1-30 points b. Execution/Choreography, Quality of Performance 1-30 points c. Stage Presence and Showmanship 1-20 points In case of a tie, judges will score based on execution/choreography and quality of performance - 1-30 points

8. Contestants must provide their own music in the form of a cassette tape or CD. If a contestant uses an accompaniment tape or CD for a vocal solo, it should not contain a vocal solo on it, only backup vocals or accompaniment. Keyboards are not provided but may be used. Sound equipment will be available.

9. Winning contestants, i.e. 1st, of all Pre Teen, Teen and 20+ competitions will be eligible to compete on Friday 12th August 2016 for Best of Contest. All acts in category heats competition must remain the same as performed in the finals event. Group performances may not have substitute or additional performers. However, deletions of performers in group acts are acceptable.

10. Teachers are not permitted to compete in their professional talent, e.g. a dance teacher could not compete as a dancer. An unpaid teacher is eligible to compete.

11. There is no entry fee required. However, an admission ticket to the venue must be purchased by all attending including competitors. Such entry is priced at £5 per Adult over 18 and £2.50 for all under 18.

12. Category contest prizes to be awarded in each category as follows: 1st Place in Category £100 prize value & Trophy 2nd Place in Category £30.00 prize value & Trophy 3rd Place in Category £20.00 prize value

13. Best of Talent Show prizes to be awarded as follows: 1st Place £1,000 prize value & Plaque 2nd Place £250 prize value & Plaque 3rd Place £100 prize value

A group dressing area will be provided. The stage area is approximately 12' x 24' and raised 3ft. Dance performances may be performed either on stage or on the maple sprung dance floor with notice. Judges' scores will be mailed after the competition is over to the entrants who supply us with a self- addressed, stamped envelope, prior to the end of the competition. Please include the name of your act, category, performance number, date of performance and if a Pre Teen, Teen or 20+ Category contestant. No requests received after the competition is over will be honored.

Category Entries must be returned by Monday 1st August 2016
