A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Roger William Perry. With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Roger William Perry, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul. WHEREAS, Roger William Perry was born on July 19, 1949, a native of Marshall County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on January 6, 2000; and WHEREAS, Roger William Perry was the loving son of Margaret Padgett Perry and the late W. H. "Bill" Perry; he was the devoted husband of Sharon Galloway Perry; and he was the loving father of Drew, Jason, and Derik Perry, and Darren Smith Perry and wife, Cheryl; and he was the proud grandfather of one granddaughter, Allison Perry; and WHEREAS, Roger William Perry graduated from South Marshall High School in 1967, he graduated from Murray State University in 1971, and he graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1975, after which time he practiced law in Benton, Kentucky, for twenty-five years; and WHEREAS, Roger William Perry served as chairman of the Criminal Justice Section of the Kentucky Bar Association, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; he previously served on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Academy of Hospital Attorneys; he was a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys, and the American, Kentucky, and Marshall County Bar Associations; and WHEREAS, Roger William Perry previously served as national president of the Murray State University Alumni Association, and he served for seven years on the Board of Governors of the Alumni Association of Murray State University; he had been an adjunct instructor in the College of Business and Public Affairs at Murray State University; he was the founding president of the Alumni Society of Murray State University College of Business, and he was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the

College of Business; and WHEREAS, Roger William Perry was a member of the Board of Directors of Bill Perry & Sons Construction Company; he was a member of Hardin-Berkley Masonic Lodge at Hardin, and he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity; and he had been active in the Boy Scouts of America and the Benton Lions Club; and WHEREAS, Roger William Perry was a devout Christian and a member of the First United Methodist Church where he had taught the Senior High Sunday School Class, and his funeral was held at the church on January 9, 2000, with burial in the Brewers Cemetery; and WHEREAS, the passing of Roger William Perry has left a void that will be difficult to fill, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Roger William Perry, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy. Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, January 11, 2000, it does so in loving memory and honor of Roger William Perry.
