MINUTES FOR THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL OF ST WILFRID’S, HONINGTON HELD ON FRIDAY 24 th NOVEMBER 2006 AT 7:00PM

Item Subject Action 1 1. The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted Minutes of Previous as a true record and signed by the Chairman. Meeting 2 2. Eight cyclists had visited the Church during the Matters Arising Lincolnshire Old Churches Trust Sponsored Cycle Ride. Next year a sign stating that the Church is open will be positioned at bottom from Frinkley Lane in order to entice more cyclists to visit.

3. The Bridge Luncheon in aid of St Wilfrid's Church held on Wednesday 20th September raised £934. Thanks were expressed to Mrs Paske for her efforts in leading the team on this fundraising event.

4. The Harvest Supper held on 30th September 2006 raised £532.48. Thanks were expressed to Mr and Mrs Watkin for organising an excellent social occasion in addition to raising significant funds.

3 5. Two quotes have been requested for the required Fabric Report repairs to the Church roof with only one received from Hawkins Conservation Ltd. Prior to carrying out the work it was recommended that the Architect, Mr Peter McFarlane be contacted to ensure a faculty was not required. It was decided that Mr Paske would contact Mr Paske Mr McFarlane.

Secs Note: It was confirmed that a faculty is not required for repair work under £1000.

1 6. An electrical survey is still required as a matter of urgency. It was decided that Mrs Griffin would arrange Mrs Griffin for a survey to be completed by Grantham Electrical.

7. Altar candles were required and it was decided that Mrs Griffin would contact Mr John Crozier of Marston. Mrs Griffin

8. The soak away drains had been cleared with some work still to be completed.

9. It was suggested that a wildlife grass area be established behind the Church. However, it was felt that this would require more management than just cutting the grass.

10. Thanks were expressed to Mr Aston for making the new church signpost on Main Street.

4 11. During the wedding at Honington earlier in the year Treasurers Report the ringers donated £10 and it was proposed, and agreed, that this should be used to start a bell fund for the Church.

5 12. The Health and Safety and Fire assessments were Fire, Health and approved. It was decided that the Secretary would Sec Safety purchase a torch for the Church to act as a safety light source in the event of a power failure.

6 13. The following services were planned: Revd Fiddyment St Wilfrid’s Services and Events 24th December 2006 at 6:00pm Carol Service 29th April 2007 at 9:30am Benefice Holy Communion

On 31st December 2006 at 9:30am the final Benefice service taken by Rev Fiddyment would be held at Hough on the Hill.

14. Easter Day 2007 will be on 8th April and it is unlikely that Revd Hadley will hold a Service at Honington.

15. It was suggested that a spring clean of the Church should be organised for 21 April 2007, prior to the first service of the year, followed by a social event.

7 16. Following the departure of Revd Fiddyment a Lay Appointment of Lay Chairman was required to run the AGM and PCC. Mr Chairman Paske volunteered for the position and was proposed by Mr Carter and seconded by Mr Henderson Findlay. All appointments will be confirmed at the AGM.

8 17. Thanks were expressed to Revd Fiddyment for his Any Other Business significant contribution to our small community at Honington and best wishes for a happy retirement.

18. Moles in the churchyard continue to cause problems, particularly affecting the mowing. It was decided that Mr Mr Paske Paske would investigate possible solutions. 2 19. It was decided that fundraising options for 2007 should be considered at the next meeting of the PCC.

9 20. It was decided that the next meeting of the PCC Secretary Date of Next would take place on Thursday 22nd March 2007 at Meeting 7:30pm in the Church, following the AGM.
