Gives large cables wings
The new “micro flizz” MF10 allows even cable diameters up to 16 mm with bending radii up to 75 mm to be routed compactly and reliably
“micro flizz” from igus routes energy, data and media in a compact system. It makes long travel with comparably small energy chains possible. At the heart of the system is a special energy chain which supplies moving media and control signals via a carriage or slide within a metal guiding channel. Special wings at the side keep the chain safely in the channel: as soon as the chain bends in the radius, the wings lie flat so that the chain can leave the groove. This means the upper and lower runs are mechanically separated. The low mechanical stress involved minimises friction, wear and noise, integrated polymer springs guarantee smooth rolling.
Completely enclosed and thus insensitive to dirt, dust and humidity as well as tough environmental conditions, “micro flizz” is particularly suitable for automated applications, sliding doors, folding doors as well as camera and studio equipment, and can be used to replace cable drums in sewage treatment plants. Since the carrier integrated in the guide channel can bear loads of up to 50 kg, “micro flizz” can also be used for manual workstations. This allows tools to be supplied with all the media they require, be fixed safely and still be easy to move by hand.
The design sizes available up to now - MF 06 (inner width 10 mm) and MF 08 (inner width 18 mm) are now being supplemented by the new size MF 10 (inner width 20 mm). With an installed height of 275 mm and a width of 107.6 mm, the new size is still very compact. The new MF 10 uses energy chains with a radius of 75 mm for more flexible filling with larger cable diameters of up to 16 mm. The standard channel segments are two metres long and are currently available as variants made of steel or aluminium sheet. A die-cast aluminium profile like those used in the smaller “micro flizz” variants is under preparation. The maximum speed is 6 m/s, the maximum travel 80 m. Accelerations of up to 50 m/s² are possible. “micro flizz” is easy for users to fix in place using standard 3-T-grooves.

As soon as the chain link is bent into the radius, the wings retract automatically so that the link can leave the groove (upper detailed photo).
