Course Description: This course is designed for students who plan to pursue careers in business and/or related occupations. Students will learn essential business concepts that will provide a solid foundation for further study in preparation for careers in business. Problem-based and real-world applications of business concepts will be emphasized. Students will utilize technology for a variety of business applications and business communication; demonstrate effective customer service and use accounting concepts to formulate, analyze and evaluate financial decisions in business. This course is a recommended prerequisite for students pursuing a business pathway programs of study.

Course Goals Students should be able to understand the following concepts:  Economics  Starting a Business o Entrepreneurship, ownerships, management, leadership, government, risk management  Social and Cultural Responsibility o Ethics  Career Planning o Marketing, advertising, human resources, finances, getting a job  Personal Financial Planning o Financial institutions, credit, checking and savings, investing, real estate, insurance  Consumer Knowledge  Technology

Student Expectations Students will:  be prepared and ready to work when the tardy bell rings.  respect their classmates, teacher, and school property.  use appropriate language in the classroom.  keep food and drinks outside of the classroom.  turn off and store away unnecessary electronic gear before entering the classroom.  obey all school and classroom policies.
