Course Description: This course is designed for students who plan to pursue careers in business and/or related occupations. Students will learn essential business concepts that will provide a solid foundation for further study in preparation for careers in business. Problem-based and real-world applications of business concepts will be emphasized. Students will utilize technology for a variety of business applications and business communication; demonstrate effective customer service and use accounting concepts to formulate, analyze and evaluate financial decisions in business. This course is a recommended prerequisite for students pursuing a business pathway programs of study.
Course Goals Students should be able to understand the following concepts: Economics Starting a Business o Entrepreneurship, ownerships, management, leadership, government, risk management Social and Cultural Responsibility o Ethics Career Planning o Marketing, advertising, human resources, finances, getting a job Personal Financial Planning o Financial institutions, credit, checking and savings, investing, real estate, insurance Consumer Knowledge Technology
Student Expectations Students will: be prepared and ready to work when the tardy bell rings. respect their classmates, teacher, and school property. use appropriate language in the classroom. keep food and drinks outside of the classroom. turn off and store away unnecessary electronic gear before entering the classroom. obey all school and classroom policies.
