The Hood Scoop

Allen Fisher — Editor for Life September 2, 2014 Dear Members, Just a reminder of our upcoming September 10th meeting. I’m sure everyone knows the drill by now, 6:30 PM Dinner, 7:30 PM Meeting. Same location, Barbara Fritchie. Hope to see you there. I am saddened to convey the passing of two longtime members, Joey Wilson and Richard Randolph. Joey was a big fan of REO, Diamond T, and Detroit Diesels. In that tall, lanky body was a man with a big heart for his fellow man and trucks. He loved all the little chrome bells and whistles and was a frequent visitor to Brandywine buying by the wheelbarrow loads. Richard loved trucks, all kinds. I think some of his best times were spent behind the wheel of that red IH Emeryville. It had a sound all its own and he could make it talk. Both members will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families. Some of you know I often had a frequent back seat passenger in that old red Buick of mine. Maggie, an Australian Cattle dog. We had twelve wonderful years with her. Some may remember her coming to an early Festivus as a pup. We put Maggie to sleep on Friday August 15th, she had a brain tumor. She will leave a void in my heart no truck can fill. Our last meeting was well attended. The highlight was an ATHS Golden Achievement Award presented to Melvin Fair Sr. Mel’s Sister and Brother were on hand for the presentation to their father. In other business VP Doug Jones was tasked to come up with a plan to acknowledge members passing. More on this as it is formulated contact Doug with any suggestions.

Dues and Membership

The policy of the ATHS and the bylaws of the Mason Dixon Chapter state you must be an ATHS member to be a member of the local chapter. On the issue of dues, this will be the last year that we will accept dues year round. For 2015 dues will be accepted starting now with the last dues collection at the Festivus in January. The chapter has to submit a list of members to the ATHS by the 31st of January of each year. This is when the ATHS audits membership to see if the chapter members are ATHS members. We can no longer carry members that are past due on their dues.
