Fiosracht Is Funded Under the SFI S Discover Programme 2016

Institute of Technology Tallaght Information Brief Fiosracht STEM Engagement Coordinator Closing Date – 17:00 on 3rd February 2017

Fiosracht (Curiosity) is a new innovative partnership between IT Tallaght, South Dublin Libraries and Foróige which aims to create a space for curious people of all ages to meet with engineers and designers to collaborate, create and share their different views and attitudes about the big problems that currently exist in the world.

At the heart of the engagement programme is the concept of bringing children, parents, teachers and experts from Irish based companies together to tackle some of the challenging issues in our society from a child’s perspective. These activities will take the form of 1/2 day, 1 day and 5 day camps and will use the Design Thinking process developed by Stanford University and the heart of this process is the idea of creating a sense of empathy between designers and stakeholders through a shared discussion. The Fiosracht Discovery Centre will be a constantly changing exhibition and exploration centre, curated by children and their families with the intention of inspiring a conversation within the wider community on the role of engineers in society.
