Dates and information to remember:

 August 22nd from 5pm –7pm will be a drop-in “Meet Your Teacher Day” for parents and students. This will not be a time for individual conferences, but rather a time for parents and students to meet the teacher, see the classroom, and ask questions about policies or procedures. We will also have staff available to answer your questions concerning bus transportation and before/after school child care (PSAM/PSPM).

 Open House will be Monday, September 22nd from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

 Early Dismissal Dates: There will be five scheduled early dismissal dates for HCPS this year. Those are September 24, November 4, December 19, February 19, and May 5. PSPM will be operating on those days.

 Please have your child at school on time each and every day of the school year. Student school hours are 8:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. No children are to be at school prior to 7:30 a.m. Students arriving before 7:30 a.m. must be in the PSAM Program. Remember, being tardy or unnecessarily signing your child out early interrupts the lesson for others and puts your child at a disadvantage.

 No student can take or be given medicine at school without legal forms being completed. Please see your teacher or the front office staff for a copy of these forms.

 Students cannot miss more than 16 school days in order to be eligible for promotion. I encourage everyone to prepay lunches. Prepaying prevents money being lost during the day and speeds up the lunch line, providing children more time to eat and socialize. After we get the school year established, we welcome parents to eat with us and enjoy time with your child. If you visit your child for lunch, please do not bring food from restaurants. Enjoy a lunch being served by our cafeteria. Information on procedures for joining your child for lunch can be found in the student handbook. Teachers will be sending home forms for the federal lunch assistance program.

Also included in your child’s day will be snack time. Glenn Marlow values our students’ health and well being while at school, so providing a nutritious snack is imperative to seeing that value. Items such as: apple slices, carrot sticks, granola bars, crackers, 100% fruit juice, water, and other fruits and vegetables are great items to have your child bring with them for their snack time, as well as providing them for classmates as well. Please be mindful and communicate with your teacher about allergies in the room that may exist.

I encourage everyone to become members of the PTO. It is exciting to see the many ways parents work together to support the students and staff of Marlow Elementary. They meet on the first Tuesday of every month here at school. Please come out and be a part of the great things going on at GMES!

Visitors must check in through the office. All outside doors will be locked with the exception of the main door. The bus parking lot is to be used only by buses, children with disabilities, and PSAM/PM. I know some measures are an inconvenience; however, the greater issue of a child’s safety must override all other concerns. I appreciate your help in keeping Marlow safe for your children.

Our mission at Glenn C. Marlow is to provide each student the opportunity to learn and develop his/her full potential. We want the parents and students to feel safe in the school environment. Together, we will strive to build self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-discipline in all students. We are striving for a community built on character, self-giving, and high expectations.

Again, Welcome to the Buckaroo Family!
