PRESENT: Agnes Crawford, Craig Crawford, Christine Scarsbrook, Robert Scarsbrook, Bill David, Rosee Macdonald & Billy Caldwell
APOLOGISES: Norma David & Margaret Caldwell
MEMBERSHIP – Billy Caldwell said that Margaret was keen to join the committee, but that she had a heavy workload at the moment.
Craig Crawford reported that he had received a letter of resignation of Jean Peddie, dated 7th March,2013. Craig will write to Jean thanking her for all her years on the Committee.
PREVIOUS MINUTES: 28th February,2013 accepted – prosed by Christine Scarsbrrok, seconded by Craig Crawford.
MATTERS ARISING: Maps Reprint: Christine reported that she heard today that the NAB grant of £500.00 was being posted. It was agreed that the £500.00 would be ring-fenced until sufficient funds were raised to cover the cost of the re-print. Bill David will ask the printer for updated costs. The Forestry Commission had offered to pay part of the re-print, as their walk is to included. Christine will contact them. Rail Trip: It was suggested that we go to Dundee on 22/06/13 and take in a visit to the Discovery. Members to confirm at the next meeting. It was agreed that Jean Peddie should be invited to come along too.
TREASURERS REPORT AND FUND RAISING Treasurers Report: Bank Balance as at 18th March 2013 is £767.15. It was agreed that Craig Crawford should become a signatory on the bank account, due to Jean’s resignation. Rosee will attend to the form required. Rosee reported that she is paying in £5.00 per month, to ensure that a statement is issued monthly. Rosee reported that Douglas Paxton is carrying out the audit, so she did not have the cheque book with her. Bird Food Sales: £40.00 handed to Rosee to bank, and an invoice for £71.30 to be paid when Rosee receives the cheque book back. Scotrail Adopt-a-Station: Craig reported that he had spent approx £300.00 on the new troughs etc., but will wait to claim this until Scotrail send the cheque through in re- imbursement. May Fair Workplan: The workplan that Christine had issued was discussed. Rosee apologised that she would not be available as she is on holiday on May, 18th. Christine will send out an updated workplan. (copy attached to these minutes). Nab: As stated in ‘Matters Arising’, £500.00 is ‘in the post’. LAC & LAG Grants : LAC – available funding should be known at the April meeting. Robert & Bill will apply for the funding. Billy is to work out his costings for the Rhombus etc. Sponsored Cycle – Rosee has decided to put this on a ‘back-burner’ for a while. She suggested a bag-pack at Morrison’s instead. She will look into this. Race Night 28/09/13 – The Bowfield have offered their function room for free. It was agreed that Christine, Craig & Rosee would look at this, to work out if it was viable. Glasgow Airport Flightpath Rural Regeneration Fund – Bill will look into what funding is available.
BEAUTIFUL HOWWOOD: Bulbs are coming up well. No action required at present.
1 GAP SITE PROJECTS Rhombus: o Tree Plaques – defer until May/June when the Guide tree is ready – Billy will get at 5- 6ft Silver Birch to replace the dead tree. o TCV Green Gym: Christine has not yet received an April date from them. o Community Payback: Christine has tried to send e-mails to Mile Connolly in Renfrewshire Council, but they keep bouncing back. She will try again to a list of tasks & dates o Trees from woodland Trust – more trees have been offered – we agreed to order the ‘Wild Harvest’ pack. o Grass Cutting : It was agreed to tape off the areas where knotweed is being treated, with notices for the council not to cut grass there, so that there is enough leaf area for Billy to treat. Isthmus: Added to Community Payback list Triangle: Added to Community Payback list.
WALKS -A timetable has been arranged by CS. Derek Shannan to continue with his involvement. CS will arrange to have the posters put up around the Village. Derek’s organised walks- Date for your diary 8/4/13. Walks start at Howwood Station.
HOWWOOD COMMUNITY COUNCIL – UPDATE Village Clean-up – 13th & 14th April
AOB Semple Trail Heritage Walk – Craig & Agnes represnted HWW at the official opening of the walk, where they met the Heritage Lottery Fund representative for the area.
NEXT MEETING: Monday, 29th April 2013. Meet at 7:30 in the Railway Inn.
