NCTED draft letter on new teacher regulations. Sent an email to suggest ideas and comments to get letter drafted to submit. Need to be specific to NC. Due on Monday, February 2. TED and AACTE both have letters we can use and stick a couple of bullets in. If possible, for each one of us to send a letter. We have 75 members and we are representing across the state.
Strategic Plans for NC TED (vision and mission) This is posted on the wiki if not already. We have been asked by incoming president to align mission and vision to the strategic vision of TED. Created a table with mission from TED and put something on the side. Ex. With member engagement. Rose has added information. If you are interested, next time we meet will bring to Board, and then bring to next meeting. Want one or two things under each of the boxes.
IDEA !!!! State level “Day on the Hill” -Originally, have a preconference on how to work with legislation/policy at NC CEC. Made it how to get involved with the state. -Do our own day on the hill. Do a “Go to” meeting where we are all in our offices, morning meeting, schedule meetings with our congress people in the afternoon. May want to hire our own mini Jane West. What are the topics that we need to speak on, talking points? NC TED could help the effort of advocacy. -Now until spring NC TED meeting, find out if there are lobbyists in districts and regions. Plan to have a policy consultant. -Thoughts: get Deb Ziglar to provide us some information/training. Take what she gives us and meet to discuss dissemination.
Update on Multi-Campus Collaborative Graduate Dan Boota could not be here, but will be coming to you soon. Can reach out to him if interested.
Next Meeting -CEC? Subdivision meetings for TED will get date -CPC (Cooperative Planning Consortium) IHE’s and DPI meet in Chapel Hill, April 24, 8:30 – 3:30
