The CPC Review Committee plans and conducts a review session for those planning to take the CPC exam. This year there will be two review sessions – one in April and another in November. The review will be provided in two 6-hour Saturday sessions. Anyone interested in helping with the review sessions should contact Loretta Brunell at [email protected]. Volunteers can help in “behind the scenes activities” or help teach the review sessions. Members who recently took the CPC exam are encouraged to volunteer to provide a fresh perspective. Members who are already credentialed can take the review session to receive CEUs.

Loretta Brunell stated that the Education Committee met. They are interested in putting together a program in which coders from different specialties present as a panel. Each panel member would discuss “tips and tricks” or unique aspects of their job for about 15-20 minutes. If interested, please contact Loretta Brunell at [email protected].

A member asked if there is a way to know which MAC-AAPC members work in certain specialties. The Networking List on the MAC-AAPC website was shown to the group. Instructions on how to update one’s profile to include his/her specialty and to be part of the Networking List will be added to the website.

Changes/additions are continually being made to the MAC-AAPC website to make it more user-friendly. Some of the main features of the website were shown. The web address is www.macaapc.org. Members are encouraged to provide feedback about the website to the MAC-AAPC officers.

MAC-AAPC Chapter Meeting – March 8, 2012 1 Participants were reminded of the importance to pre-register for monthly meetings. It’s helpful to know the number of people planning to attend to provide enough handouts and refreshments. Plus it saves time for the Treasurer who needs to register walk-ins after the meeting. At future meetings, those who did not pre-register will be asked to use a computer to register when they come to the meeting.

The next chapter meeting will be held on April 12, 2012 at 9:00 AM. Joe Burchik will speak on acupuncture.

The answer to March’s Coding Challenge Question was reviewed and pertinent coding guidelines highlighted. A drawing for door prizes concluded the meeting.

Miscellaneous Info 2.0 continuing education units were awarded by AAPC
