1. COURSE: Mad Science® of Greater Boston (IV), “There’s Science Everywhere!”

Join the Mad Science hands-on science fun. We’re crazy about science...and hope you are too! In this program, we’ll have a blast exploring science and how it affects the world around us. There will be exciting hands-on activities, spectacular demonstrations, inquiry-based discussions, and amazing projects to make and take home. We’ll explore the world’s most abundant animal- bugs; investigate the powerful processes that shape the Earth and form rocks, minerals and gems: try out different types of simple machines ... levers ...incline planes ... wheels ... and pulleys; and discover how hurricanes, tornadoes and thunderstorms develop and how powerful they can be! We’ll also learn first-hand how advances in science and technology are behind our favorite movie special effects; explore the energy of motion and how energy can be conserved; get our left and right brains working together and discover the links between science and art; and examine and investigate what life is like under the sea.

Price and Minimum/Maximum: The price is $115/ child with a minimum enrollment of 12 and maximum of 20 per class.

2. COURSE: Chess Wizards

Chess Wizards is a premier chess education companyproviding fun, informative and challenging chess lessonsto students. Chess Wizards teaches children many importantlife concepts, such as learning the ability to wingraciously and accept defeat with dignity and sportsmanship. Students will be divided into groups according totheir chess experience. At the end of this session,each student will have had the chance to participate in amini-chess tournament.

3. COURSE: Event Planning

For 8 weeks we will create an entire event! Not only will we prepare the food but we will plan the party! Everything from the theme to the decorations the food to drinks! Our 1st class will be our event planning day, we will choose a theme, plan the menu and decide on decorations, all leading up to the final event. While everyone is having fun they will learn team work, budgeting, organization, and kitchen skills. Join in on the fun!

4. COURSE: Tiny Chefs Let's tie on our aprons and get started! This class will give your little ones the skills to make simple foods, learn to measure, and of course to share, all while having a whole lot of fun! For 8 weeks, we will make healthy snacks, desserts and meals. At our last class, your children will graduate to tiny chefs; they will earn their chef hats and recipe books! By the time theygraduate they will be taking over your kitchen!

Price: $90/8 week session

5. COURSE: Introduction to Acrylics

Taught by SCS Art teacher, Mrs. Carbone, Intro to Acrylics will cover the basics of painting, including color mixing, brush strokes, and brush type. Students will be led through the entire process of a painting project, from drawing the subject matter to the final signature. Students will complete at least one teacher-directed painting and, depending on the speed and interest of the artists, at least one self-directed work. This class is open to all students in grades 6-8, with no particular level of experience required.

Piano & Guitar Sessions – Offered by Forte Piano Music School  Group lessons – Minimum of 7 is required to run the 8 week session.Price $25.00/lesson  Private lessons – ½ hour lessons (can be offered at SCS or vendor location at 50 Cross Street, Winchester, MA).
