THEISS PTO, INC. PTO MEETING MINUTES Friday, April 12, 2013 CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL- Ricci Engelhardt, Debra Onu, Stacey Hamilton, Susan DeLoatche, Kathy Monteiro, Mary Gallche, Jodi Cole, Mirna Radwan, Amy Sexton, Pj Rice, Shannon Oleson, Tammy Cannon, Tami Griess, Shelly Robinson, Kathy Moore, Penny Powell, Tonya DeLeon

PRINCIPALS REPORT- Ms. Robinson- Kids and teachers have been working hard on Star testing. It went very well. Dads and Donuts was a lot of fun and we had a great turn out. The Book Fair was a huge success. We have had a few Saturday school sessions already and they have gone great. Each session is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, whose teachers felt could benefit from the program. The Saturday Sessions are from 8:30-12.

FACULTY REPORT- Ms. Keenan-Field Day weather was GREAT! Loved having the Klein High School kids help out. They proved to be great role models. Thank you so much for the great luncheon.

REPORT OF OFFICERS President- Susan DeLoatche- Great job to Ricci Engelhardt for a wonderful successful Field Day! Congrats to Debra Onu on a job well done with Dads and Donuts. I would like to everyone to know that Larry Brown Director of Campus Kids has given Theiss PTO a generous check for $3,000. Please thank him if you see him. I would like to mention that Abercrombie will give Theiss $10. For every child that enrolls in the Whole Child Stem Based Summer Program at Abercrombie. It is a great Science and Technologies Camp. Don’t forget our last PTO Meeting is May 10th.

1st Vice President- Debra Onu- Dads and Donuts had a great turn out and everything ran very smoothly. Thanks for all that helped with it.

2nd Vice President- Cheryl Riley-Ricco’s Totals are not in yet. The Kroger Cards are loaded up to $2,785. At $5,000. We will have another check issued to us. MccTeacher night at McDonalds totaled to $558.

Treasurer- Kathy Moore-Starting balance $36,962.66. Our Income was $3,610.19. Our new balance is $43,572.85.

Volunteer Coordinator- Stacey Hamilton-VIP Luncheon was at North Hampton. The topic was volunteering. It started in 1970. Volunteers have logged in 103,000 hours. Key Communicator Meeting was about technology and learning. The district is trying to use technology to shift from “one size fits all” teaching to a more individual focus on each student and their learning at their level. Next Key Communicator Meeting is on May 17 and the subject will be High School Rankings.

REPORT OF BOARD MEMBERS

Press Secretary- PJ Rice- We are getting our End Of The Year Theiss Tiger Tails together. Please be specific if you have any Thank You’s. Please send me any great stories that you would like to share about helping out. It doesn’t need to be in any specific format, just send it regular email.

Hospitality- Jennifer Antar- Final teacher luncheon is on 5/21 hosted by Kindergarten and 1st grade. Box Tops- Jennifer Antar-We collected the most money for Theiss in a school year. We reached 71% of our goal. We raised $2,140.20!!!!!

Room Parent Coordinator- Abby Pyle- Teacher and Nurse’s Appreciation Days are coming in May! I plan to meet with Ms. Keenan on this topic. Information will go out in the Wednesday folders a week or two weeks prior.

REPORT OF VOLUNTEER CHAIRS

Movie Night- Laura Lander- The movie we have chosen is Finding Nemo. The PTO will be providing snow cones, popcorn, and goodie bags. Come all. It is free and will be a lot of fun!

NEW PTO BUSINESS Girls on the Run- Kathy Montiero- Girls on the Run is a non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. We would like to have the first site in our area. It is offered to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. It teaches girls how to be a good friend and focusses on peer pressure. It ends with a 5 k run. (A flyer is attached with more information)

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 2:44 pm by Stacey Hamilton, seconded by Tami Greiss. Susan DeLoatche declared the meeting adjourned.
