Overview, The task was to download the data from the tile v07 h21, which corresponds to Ethiopia both Terra and Aqua from the MODIS sensor. The data had a frequency of 16 days, the starting date was the 49th day of 2000 until the 193rd day of 2009.
FTP Source, The data was downloaded from the following NASA sources:

Download tool, In order to download the data, a shell script was created to only retrieve the desired tiles from the data pool, using “wget” with the options of recursive and continuous download “-rc”.
Data area, The following map gives us a brief look of the area the data.

Download details, The download overall took one day and a half; the download times were: MOD13Q1: 23 hours 49 minutes, 1429 minutes or 85740 seconds. MYD13Q1: 16 hours 7 minutes, 967 minutes or 58020 seconds.
The average speed for each download was pretty similar, for MOD13Q1 being 550Kb/s and for MYD13Q1, 596Kb/s.
Data placement, The data downloaded was placed in Unyasi, under the shared folder: Unyasi:/DATA1/Ethiopia/
All of the data has been placed under one father directory so each (Terra, Aqua) is under only one folder for easier access. Terra being under MOD13Q1 (all files are directly under :/DATA1/Ethiopia/MOD13Q1) and Aqua being under MYD13Q1 (all files are directly under :/DATA1/Ethiopia/MYD13Q1).
