Judson ISD/ Bexar County Truancy Roundup Gets Students to Class

Judson ISD, in partnership with Bexar County Judge Rogelio Lopez and San Antonio ISD, will conduct its second of two truancy roundups to get students back in the classroom. This last truancy run will start at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012. The number of students that have truancy cases that are still open is the reason for this roundup. According to Judge Lopez, 50 to 60 percent of truancy cases were not being resolved within precinct 4 before this roundup started. Students and parents that have not shown up to take care of the matter were given notification and weeks to resolve or reset their case. Judge Lopez says a significant number of truancy cases have been addressed since the warning of the roundup went out several weeks ago. Despite that, there are still some cases that are pending and this effort is hoped to find a resolution and get these students back in school. On the first day of the effort, Tuesday, 11/13/12, 16 students were picked up.
