MINUTES HELENA CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING June 14, 2010

The Council of the City of Helena met in a regular scheduled meeting on Monday night, June 14, 2010 in the Helena Municipal Building at 6:00 P.M., regular place and time for holding said meetings.

1. Mayor Penhale called the meeting to order at 6:01 P.M.

2. Prayer was led by Helena Intermediate Principal Wayne Williams.

2. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Penhale.

4. Roll Call

Present: Members: Barbara Hyche, Katherine Ennis, Cris Nelson, and Leigh Hulsey, Absent: Jerry Pate Visitors: Doug Jones, John Wilder, George Pickle, Officer Josh Lindsey and others (list attached)

Mayor Penhale declared a quorum present and meeting was open for business.

5. Minutes Approved/Corrected from Prior Meeting(s)

Leigh Hulsey made a motion to approve the minutes this was followed with a second by Katherine Ennis and the following votes were cast:

AYE: Barbara Hyche, Katherine Ennis, Cris Nelson, and Leigh Hulsey

NAY: None

Motion carried.

6. Bills

Barbara Hyche made a motion to approve and pay current bills with a second by Cris Nelson and the following votes were cast:

AYE: Barbara Hyche, Katherine Ennis, Cris Nelson, and Leigh Hulsey

NAY: None

Motion carried.

7. Rex Ranson- 2301 Kala Street-Home Occupation License-“Refrigeration Concepts, LLC”

Rex Ranson was present to answer any questions and/or comments the Mayor and City Council may have in regards to this request. MINUTES HELENA CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING June 14, 2010 Page 2 of 3

Katherine Ennis asked Mr. Ranson if he has seen the rules for having a home occupation license.

Mr. Ranson advised he has and will have two vehicles with his logo on them parked in his driveway or garage, and he will not be storing any products at his residence.

Katherine Ennis made a motion to approve the home occupation request with a second by Leigh Hulsey and the following votes were cast:

AYE: Katherine Ennis, Barbara Hyche, Cris Nelson, and Leigh Hulsey

NAY: None

Motion carried.

8. David Schlueter-1329 Old Cahaba Trace-Home Occupation License-“Buck Creek Stained Glass, LLC”

David Schlueter was present to answer any questions and/or comments the Mayor and City Council may have in regards to this request.

Cris Nelson asked Mr. Schlueter to elaborate on this business with details.

Mr. Schlueter advised he will have a small studio set up in his garage and when the garage is closed you will not be able to tell that a business is operating out of his home. He will be able to repair and paint stain glass as you see on Churches and various places.

Barbara Hyche made a motion to approve the home occupation request with a second by Cris Nelson and the following votes were cast:

AYE: Katherine Ennis, Barbara Hyche, Cris Nelson, and Leigh Hulsey

NAY: None

Motion carried.

9. Cris Nelson-Buck Creek Festival

Cris Nelson thanked all of the volunteers for their continued dedication for helping out at the Buck Creek Festival and distributed checks to numerous organizations.

Some of the checks distributed were as named: $700.00 to Helena Elementary, Intermediate and Middle Schools; $300 for Helena Fire Explorers; $300 to Helena Civitans; $500 to Helena Library; MINUTES HELENA CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING June 14, 2010 Page 3 of 3

$700 to Helena Police Explorers and an additional $700 to help pay for their bus which provided shuttle service for the Festival.

In total the festival raised $18,553 for charities.

There being no further business, Mayor Penhale duly adjourned meeting at 6:25 P.M.
