The 9th Asian Museum Curators’ Conference Seoul, November 19/20/21/22, 2013

◎CONFERENCE FRAMEWORK The conference aims to assemble the next generation of curators in a workshop and meeting to discuss common concerns, explore the potential for networking, and engage in long-term collaborative projects dealing with modern and contemporary art in the Asian region. The feasibility of various future projects is set to be discussed at this year’s conference. The previous eight editions were held in the following locations:

Session 3: Global exchange in the visual art area: archive, scholarly, HR, material, publication, residency, fellowship, PR, marketing, international relations, etc Presentation 1: Chantal Wong (Head of Strategy and Special Projects, Asia Art Archive) Presentation 2: Seungwan Kang (Head of Development and Senior Curator, MMCA) Presentation 3: Chien-hung Huang (Associate Professor, Institute of Trans-disciplinary Art, Taipei National University of the Arts) Presentation 4: Noemi Szabo (Chief Curator, Kogart Gallery and Kovacs Gabor Art Foundation, Budapest, Hungary) Presentation 5~ : Curators from Asia (TBC) *Korean-English simultaneous interpretation available.

1. Financial Provisions Participants are responsible to cover the following costs: ・ Airfare ・ Accommodation *MMCA will provide booking service for a hotel around USD100 per night nearby the venue ・ Travel insurance ・ Per diem (local transportation cost and meals or other relevant cost) ・ Organizer will make the following arrangements: ・ Reservation of the hotel on behalf of participants (upon your request) ・ Arrangement of museum visits and exhibition tours (including transportation to travel around and meeting with curators in charge) ・ Preparation documents and materials for conference ・ Opening reception and farewell reception

2. Eligibility ・ Curators who are employed by museums or are independent ・ Must have expertise and experience in the area of modern and contemporary visual arts ・ Must have the necessary proficiency in English or Korean to carry out presentations and discussions ・ Must have interest in networking with their peers in Asia and undertaking co-curatorial research and projects in the future

3. Obligations Participating curators are requested to make a 15 to 20 minute presentation on comparative analysis on the conditions / environment of art system / art scene in his/her country or those in Korea. *Q&A session will be followed after.

4. To participate Curators who are interested in participating are asked to send the attached “Reply Form1-3” to the organizer below by no later than Tuesday, September 15 by e-mail. *Reply Form must be written in English. *All items on the form including CV and summary of your presentation have to be filled out.
