Dear friends and skiers,

The Hellenic Water Ski Federation is pleased to invite all skiers of Region EAME Federations to the 2006 OPEN Championships, at the Olympic Rowing Centre of Schinias – Marathonas in Athens from September 13th to 17th 2006, in memory of our fellow skier Vagelis Papakyrikos. This is the first information bulletin for the 2006 EAME Open Championships, more information will be given at the second bulletin which will published very soon.

LOCATION OF THE SITE

Schinias / Marathonas is located close to the centre of Athens (38km), near to the new Athens International Airport, Eleftherios Venizelos (about 30 km). Full details how to arrive at the site from the airport will be given in Bulletin No.2

2006 EAME OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS, OLYMPIC ROWING CENTRE, 13-17/9/06, ATHENS GREECE CAR RENTAL If you wish to rent a car, or a mini bus, you can contact any major car rental agency and pick up your car at the airport. Available companies in the Airport are HERTZ, AVIS, BUDGET, EURORENTAL. We recommend that you book your cars in advance since September is a high tourist season for Greece and hiring a car is subject to availability, especially if you are hiring a minivan or a minibus. Insurance is mandatory by law.

ACCOMMODATION The area of Marathonas has several hotels since the beach of Schinias and the city of Nea Makri is a major holyday area for Athens. You can find a list of all the Hotels. Please make your own reservation directly to the hotel of your choice, mentioning that the reservation refers to the Water Ski Championships.

The organizers are also in contact with the Olympic Rowing Centre management in order to provide accommodation at the rooms provided on the site with breakfast only. More information will be given in Bulletin No.2.

ENTRY FEE The entry fee for the EAME Open Championships Individual competition is 135 € per skier. The entry fee for the EAME Open Championships TEAM competition is 250 € per Team. The entry fee has to be paid, upon arrival in Euros at the organization secretariat on the site.

CREDIT CARDS Most Credit Cards are well accepted in Greece: Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, AmEx etc. However the site payment for food and drinks is in cash (Euro only).

2006 EAME OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS, OLYMPIC ROWING CENTRE, 13-17/9/06, ATHENS GREECE COMPETITION BOATS The official boats for all the events will be announced in the next bulletin prior to the 10 th of July 2006.

TRAINING Training will be available at the official site from Friday 8th of September till Tuesday the 12th on a first come first served basis. The cost of training is 220€ per hour, on the competition site (3 event) and 200€ per hour in the second lake (slalom & tricks only).

INTENTION TO ENTER Please return the attached “Intention to Enter Form” to the Hellenic Water Ski Federation by Fax or E-mail for the Team until 15/7 and for individual entry until 16/7.

ENTRY FORMS / PENALTY DATES We remind you that according to EAME rules all Official Entry Forms must be sent before 3rd of September for Team Event and 4th of September for Individual Event to the Hellenic Water Ski Federation and to the EAME Office.

This schedule could be changed depending on weather conditions or jury decision.

TRAVEL VISA Visas to enter Greece are required only from some non European Union countries, so please contact the Greek embassy in your country.

WEATHER CONDITIONS Weather in Greece in mid September tends to be hot (25c to 30c) with slight north winds.
