Dr Ben Bachmair was until his retirement in 2008 Professor of pedagogy, media education and instructional technology at the University of Kassel, Germany. He is a member of the London Mobile Learning Group and an Associate of the WLE Centre for Excellence at the Institute of Education, London. Her teaches as visiting professor at the State University of St. Petersburg, Russia and is member of the German public regulation board for television and the internet. His specialisms include: mass communication and education, media and learning, media socialization and media reception, media within the cultural development. He led the German association of media education for some years and has published widely. He is currently scientific adviser of the MyMobile project (medien+bildung, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany).

Curriculum Vitae Born in 1943

1963 to 1969: Studies in Teaching at University of München, Studies in Pedagogy, Psychology and Physiology at University of Erlangen. Doctorate 1969 from the University of Erlangen. 1969 to 1978: Planning and research for the production of educational films at the Institut für Film und Bild (München); Curriculum development for preschool education at the Deutsches Jugendinstitut (München); Scholarship of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft; Teaching and research at the universities of Erlangen, Kiel and Siegen. Since 1978 until 2008 Professor of Pedagogy, Media Education and Instructional Technology at the University Kassel.

Academic Activities at times Dean of the Faculty of Erziehungswissenschaft/ Humanwissenschaften (Humanities) at the University of Kassel, Visiting Professor at the Universities of Klagenfurt, Florence and St.Petersburg State University; Research Fellow at the Institute of Education, University of London, Head of media research department of Deutsches Jugendinstitut, Munich.
