Lady Di. Diana, Princess of Wales, was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. Diana was born in 1961 and she was the youngest daughter in the family of the Spensers. On her fatherʼs side she was a descendant of King Charles II. On her motherʼs side she was Irish and Scottish. After her parentsʼ divorce she, her mother and her younger brother went to live to Knightsbridge (a district of London), where Diana attended a local school. But she often went to live to her father in Norfolk. Diana was good at swimming and diving and wanted to be a ballerina. But she ws too tall for it. In 1977 she met her future husband who dated her elder sister at that time. Two years later she moved to London where she took a cooking course. She worked as a dance instructor, helped in the kindergarten, cleaned in the flats of her sister and her friends. In 1980 Diana and Prince Charles were guests at a country weekend and that was the beginning of their relations. The prince proposed to her in 1981, and Diana accepted. But their engagement was kept secret for several weeks. The marriage took place on the 29th of July, 1981. On the 21st of June Diana gave birth to her first son, William, and on the 15 th of September – to her second son, Harry. Diana was a devoted mother. She was famous for her charity work and the people loved her greatly. But she often broke royal traditions that caused displeasure in the family. Diana was one of the most well-known public persons and the royal family also did not like it. As a result Diana and the prince divorced in 1996. After the divorce Diana lived in the Kensington Palace and continued her charity work. Soon she started relations with Dodi Al-Fayed, a son of a multi-millionaire. On the 31st of August, 1997 Diana and Dodi went to Paris where they got into a car crash. Lady Di died. Her funeral on the 6th of September in Westminster Abbey was broadcast worldwide. By the 10th of September the pile of roses at the Kensington Palace was 5 feet deep (1 m = 3,3 f).
