QUESTIONS FOR STAFF
Ms. Pat Karn: Was this brought about because of a special request?
Mr. Joe Aukstikalnis: Yes, actually the Moose Lodge. They cannot occupy their new location on 62nd Avenue and 42nd as they’re in litigation on that. Apparently, the developer did not follow through on what he was supposed to do out there so they can’t finish the construction of the building. They found a new temporary location on Park Blvd. and didn’t realize they had all the alcoholic beverages things that they had to go through. City Council held a workshop in which the distance rules were discussed and instructed staff to prepare this Code amendment.
Ms. Pat Karn: Okay, thank you Joe.
Mr. Joe Aukstilkanis: No problem.
Mr. Shelly: So this is strictly for clubs and lodges. This has nothing to do with schools or….
Mr. Joe Aukstikalnis: No, this is for fraternal clubs and lodges. What this does not open the doors for is for taverns. This is only for fraternal clubs and lodges where you have to be a member to attend.
