Job purpose

To ensure the provision of effective and efficient technical support to Prof Hywel Morgan and his research group.

Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time

1. To provide research technical support for the Centre for Hybrid Biodevices, including undergraduate 25 % and post-graduates.

2. To plan and develop new teaching laboratories for all years of the Biomedical Electronics degree, 25% commencing October 2017

3. To manage the undergraduate laboratories for the biomedical modules 20%

4. To assist with managing the teaching cleanroom in the Mountbatten clean room complex 15%

5. To ensure accurate completion of all documentation, reports and records. 5%

6. To ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with technical and health and safety procedures, 2% diagnosing faults and arranging for repair as necessary.

7. To ensure compliance with health and safety processes within work environment. 2 %

8. To purchase general consumables and ensure adequate stocks of supplies, ensuring finances and 2 % work resources are monitored efficiently and appropriately. Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time

9. To train students and new researchers in techniques and the safe and effective use of equipment 2 % and monitor compliance

10. Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder. 2 %

Qualifications, Skill level equivalent to achievement of Relevant degree (or equivalent knowledge and HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work qualification or experience). experience experience acquired in relevant technical Financial administration/budget support roles and job-related training. monitoring experience. Able to demonstrate a good understanding of technical processes relating to work area. Ability to make effective use of standard office computer systems including word- processing and spreadsheets.

Planning and Able to plan and prioritise a range of Experience of running and organising organising one’s own, and the team’s work teaching laboratories activities. Ability to successfully plan and deliver technical support of projects over a period of several months.
