“OUR STRUGGLE FOR JUSTICE CONTINUES” The San Fernando Valley Mobilizes

Professors from California State University, Northridge and other schools will announce their support for the Our Struggle for Justice Continues March and Rally at a press conference on Tuesday, January 11th at CSUN, 11 AM in front of the CSUN Sculpture at the corner of Zelzah Ave. and Nordhoff Blvd., Northridge, CA.

The goal of Our Struggle for Justice Continues March and Rally, to be held in Pacoima, CA on January 29, 2011, is to remind our elected officials as they begin the new session of Congress that the immigration system is broken creating many injustices. Undocumented residents have a positive impact on our economy. It is time to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform with a pathway to citizenship.

Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday, January 11, will be Dr. Octavio Pescador, Professor, UCLA; Dr. David Rodriguez, Chair, Chicana/Chicano Studies Department, CSUN; Dr. Rudy Acuna, Professor, CSUN; Dr. Jorge Garcia, Professor, CSUN. Also attending the press conference will be Professors Jose Maldonado and Jose Luis Ramirez from Los Angeles Mission College. Maria Reza, former Assistant Superintendent, LAUSD, and other educators and students will express their support for the March and Rally.

These educators are active supporters of Comprehensive Immigration Reform and are familiar with the outstanding achievements of undocumented students and the tremendous barriers they have overcome.

The March begins at 9 AM, January 29, at the corner of Glenoaks and Van Nuys Blvd. in Pacoima and will proceed for about 2 miles to Mary Immaculate Church where a rally featuring speeches by community leaders and elected officials will be held.

Organizations supporting the March and Rally include: Hermandad Mexicana Transnacional; Latin American Civic Association; Pueblo y Salud, Inc.; Social Justice Committee Mary Immaculate Church, Pacoima; Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles; Cesar E. Chavez Commemorative Committee, SFV; Adelante/SFV; Consejo Binacional de Organizaciones Communitarias, Inc.
